Why Erik Per Sullivan Did Not Return as Dewey
The original Dewey, Erik Per Sullivan, chose not to come back for the revival. Sullivan stopped acting over a decade ago and has focused on his education. Reports confirm he is now a graduate student at Harvard University, studying Victorian literature.
Jane Kaczmarek shared that the producers offered Sullivan a large amount of money to return, but he politely said no.

The story picks up years after the original ended. Malcolm now has a teenage daughter named Leah (Keeley Karsten) and a girlfriend named Tristan (Kiana Madeira).
