Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda is arriving sooner than expected. The four-part animated series, originally set for August 6, then moved to August 27, will now premiere on August 1, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. The show follows elite Wakandan spies, the Hatut Zaraze, on dangerous missions to recover stolen Vibranium artifacts across history. A new trailer and full voice cast details have also been revealed.

What Is Eyes of Wakanda About?

Eyes of Wakanda explores the untold stories of Wakanda’s secret agents, the Hatut Zaraze, who travel the world to reclaim Vibranium stolen by enemies. The series is set in different historical periods, starting in 1260 BC, and connects to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The first episode, “Into the Lion’s Den”, follows Noni, a former Dora Milaje warrior turned spy, as she hunts down a rogue Wakandan general known as The Lion. The show blends action, espionage, and Wakandan history, expanding the world introduced in Black Panther.

“Wakanda is a 3,000-year-old society. They have a very clear identity, and we get to see the persistence of their culture through these warriors.”Todd Harris, director and showrunner.

Who Is in the Voice Cast?

The series features a star-studded voice cast, including:

  • Winnie Harlow as Noni, a disgraced Dora Milaje agent.
  • Cress Williams as The Lion, a former Wakandan general turned pirate.
  • Steve Toussaint (House of the Dragon) as a jaded Wakandan spy.
  • Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog) in an undisclosed role.
  • Jona Xiao as a past version of Iron Fist, marking the character’s return to the MCU.

Other cast members include Patricia Belcher, Lynn Whitfield, Gary Anthony Williams, and Jacques Colimon.

How Many Episodes Are There?

Eyes of Wakanda is a four-episode miniseries, with each episode running 30 minutes. All episodes will drop at once on Disney+ on August 1.

What Makes the Animation Unique?

The series combines 3D animation with hand-drawn elements, inspired by African art styles. The opening sequence is fully hand-painted, paying tribute to traditional charcoal sketches. The visual style draws from artists like Ernie Barnes and Dean Cornwell, blending African aesthetics with sci-fi.

“We wanted to honor Wakanda’s history while making it feel fresh and dynamic. The animation pushes the boundaries of what we’ve seen before in Marvel projects.”Todd Harris.

Why Is This Series Important for Marvel?

Unlike previous Marvel animated shows like What If…?, Eyes of Wakanda is part of the main MCU timeline. It fills gaps in Wakanda’s history and sets up future stories, possibly linking to Avengers: Doomsday (2026). The inclusion of Iron Fist also hints at Marvel reintroducing the character in live-action.

Where Can You Watch It?

Eyes of Wakanda will stream exclusively on Disney+. No free streaming options are available yet. Subscription plans start at $9.99/month, with bundle options including Hulu and ESPN+.
