Meghan Markle ended the first season of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder with a special guest—Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles. The bonus episode, released on June 3, 2025, revealed personal stories about family, business, and the challenges of balancing both.

Tina Knowles, a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of the haircare brand Cécred with Beyoncé, shared advice with Meghan. She talked about her journey as a working mom and how she handles disagreements with her famous daughter.

“Ms. Tina’s conversation fulfills the promise of the podcast, offering extraordinary advice and sharing insights about being a working mom, building something special, and remaining true to herself,” Meghan told Marie Claire .

Tina, who started her career as a hairdresser and salon owner, explained how running a business shaped her confidence. “I learned to be a boss. It gives you confidence that you didn’t have before,” she said on the podcast .

One of the most talked-about moments was when Tina admitted she struggles when her kids are upset with her. “If my kids are mad at me, I can’t take it. I’ll cave,” she revealed. This applies even in business disagreements with Beyoncé .

“We have disagreements, but it’s her business, so she gets to win,” Tina said about working with Beyoncé on Cécred. She added that maintaining a close relationship with her children is her top priority .

Meghan also opened up about her own business challenges. Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, sold out its first product drop in just 45 minutes. “We planned for a year, and then everything sells out in 45 minutes—which, yes, amazing. But then what?” she asked Tina during their conversation .

Tina’s advice resonated with Meghan, who wondered if she might one day work with her daughter, Princess Lilibet. “I wonder if one day I’ll be in business with Lili and we’ll be building something,” Meghan mused .

The podcast episode also touched on Tina’s long journey to launching Cécred. She had dreamed of creating a haircare line for years but needed Beyoncé’s involvement to make it happen. “It took some convincing,” Tina admitted. “She was focused on her music, but finally, she agreed” .

Beyoncé’s trust in her mother’s expertise was clear when Tina recalled a business meeting. Some advisors doubted her idea for a test salon, but Beyoncé backed her up, saying, “My mom knows what she’s doing” .

The episode gave fans a rare look into the personal and professional bond between Tina and Beyoncé. It also highlighted Meghan’s own entrepreneurial journey, including the emotional side of building a brand.

“The public sees the flashy stuff, but behind the scenes, there are tears,” Meghan shared. Tina agreed, adding that success in business and family requires patience and compromise .
