Marinette and Kagami are heading to Japan for an anime-inspired adventure in Miraculous World: Tokyo, Stellar Force. This new, one-hour special brings Ladybug and Ryuko to Tokyo, where they team up with a brand-new group of heroes known as the Stellar Force. The story, packed with giant monsters and mecha fights, also explores Kagami’s past in Tokyo. This special is more than a standalone story. It directly leads to a new 2D animated spinoff series also called Miraculous Stellar Force, which is set to premiere in 2027.
The special had its television premiere in the United States on Saturday, November 29, 2025, on the Disney Channel, followed by a broadcast on Disney XD the next day. It will begin streaming on Disney+ in the United States on February 27, 2026, before becoming available in other regions around the world.
What Happens in the Tokyo Special?
The story begins with Kagami asking Marinette for help. In Tokyo, a new team of superheroes is struggling to work together while facing attacks from monstrous creatures called kaiju. Kagami believes Ladybug can help them unite. The two friends travel to Tokyo, where Kagamiโs grandmother lives.
Once in Japan, Marinette learns more about Kagamiโs childhood. A flashback shows Kagamiโs first day at a Japanese school, where she met a group of friends, including a bold girl named Miki and a kind boy named Kazuno. Kagami developed feelings for Kazuno, but her family moved to Paris before she could tell him. In the present, Kagami reveals that the new superhero team is actually her old group of friends from school.
The action kicks off when a kaiju attacks the city. Ladybug and Ryuko join the fight alongside five members of the new team: Leo (Miki), Capricorn (Kazuno), Sagittarius, Cancer, and Aries. The team is inexperienced and argues during battle. Leo is focused solely on destroying the monster, while Capricorn is overly cautious about protecting civilians. During the fight, Ladybug realizes with horror that their taxi driver is trapped inside the kaiju. She must find a way to save the innocent person and teach the new heroes a crucial lesson about what it means to protect people.
The special features a unique visual shift. When Marinette and Kagami arrive in Tokyo, the animation style changes from the series’ usual CGI to a vibrant 2D anime style, paying homage to Japanese animation.
