The film “Maidaan”, starring Ajay Devgn, has been making headlines for reasons other than its release. The film’s producer, Boney Kapoor, has been ordered by a Mumbai court to pay a substantial sum of Rs 96 lakh to a vendor. The vendor had filed a case against Kapoor for non-payment of dues for equipment supplied during the film’s production.

Why Did the Vendor Sue Boney Kapoor?

The vendor had provided equipment for the making of “Maidaan”. However, he claimed that Kapoor delayed his payment, which amounted to Rs 1 crore, for over two years. This delay led the vendor to take legal action against the producer.

What Was the Court’s Verdict?

After hearing the case, the Mumbai court ruled in favor of the vendor. The court ordered Kapoor to pay the vendor Rs 96,06,743. The court stated that Kapoor must furnish security in this amount and produce and place at the disposal of the court, when required, the said property or the value of the same, or such portion thereof as may be sufficient to satisfy the decree.

What Was the Vendor’s Reaction to the Verdict?

Following the verdict, the vendor issued an official statement. He stated that Kapoor had refused to pay the interest even after holding back the payment for over two years. The vendor expressed hope that people in the industry understand that no one should be taken advantage of or be bullied and should fight for what is rightfully theirs.

What’s Next for Boney Kapoor?

The court has ordered Boney Kapoor to pay the money within 8 days. Kapoor is yet to comment on the verdict. It remains to be seen how this legal issue will impact the release of “Maidaan”, which is now scheduled to hit the screens on April 11, after several delays.
