In the latest episode of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the danger hit closer to home than ever before. The sixth episode, titled “We’ve Got Company,” shifted focus from Tony and Ziva’s European mission to the precarious situation of their daughter, Tali. After nine days in hiding, the safe house was compromised, leading to a tense rescue operation and setting up the next phase of the family’s mission.
The episode revealed that the attackers found Tali and her protector, Sophie, because of an accidental mistake. Tali, bored and isolated, charged an old smartwatch belonging to Tony. Unbeknownst to her, the cellular model was still connected to Tony’s old number, and once powered on, it pinged cell towers, revealing their secret location to the wrong people .
How Tali and Sophie Were Found
The security breach was not due to a complex hacking effort but a simple, emotional error. Stuck in a safe house with no internet and dying electronics, Tali discovered a smartwatch her father had left behind during a previous family visit . Remembering happier times playing games with Tony, she decided to charge it.
To get time alone to charge the watch, Tali tricked Sophie by faking a need for sanitary products, prompting Sophie to make a trip to a nearby store . While Sophie was away, Tali plugged in the watch. However, the device’s connection to a cellular network immediately gave away their position to Jonah Markham’s team, who had been hunting for them .
The Attack on the Safe House
The peaceful setting of the safe house quickly turned into a battlefield. Shortly after Sophie returned, a car pulled up, and armed men entered the property. Tali left a panicked voice message for her parents, saying, “Mom, Dad, there are strange men at the house” . She and Sophie barricaded themselves in a hidden panic room, desperately trying to figure out how to escape or call for help .
Their situation became even more dire when a wasp, which had been disturbed from a nest near the house, found its way into the panic room and stung Sophie. Sophie has a severe allergic reaction to wasp stings, and her EpiPen was left in the main part of the house . This medical emergency forced them to take risks they otherwise would have avoided.
Tali’s Brave Choice
Sophie devised a plan for Tali to escape through a small vent to get help while she created a distraction. Tali managed to sneak out but faced a critical choice when she saw the EpiPen on the coffee table. Instead of running to safety, she remembered a lesson from her father. Tony often quoted the film Lilo & Stitch, telling her, “Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind” .
Driven by this principle, Tali risked her own safety to retrieve the EpiPen and return to the panic room to save Sophie. Her decision, while brave, ultimately alerted the attackers to the panic room’s location . The leader of the attackers, Pierre Galimard, then forced them out by throwing tear gas into the vent system .
The Rescue and Reunion
Fighting back, Sophie used strobe lights and smoke as a diversion, allowing her and Tali to burst out of the panic room. A fierce fight ensued, with Sophie engaging multiple attackers. At one point, Tali even helped by running over one of the men with a car . Just as Sophie was being overpowered by Galimard, help arrived.
Claudette, Sophie’s girlfriend and a member of Tony and Ziva’s team, showed up first, saving Sophie just in time . Moments later, Tony and Ziva arrived at the scene, leading to an emotional reunion with their daughter. The family was finally together, but the safe house was no longer safe .
Tony’s Grief and a New Decision
With Tali physically safe, the emotional toll of recent events began to surface. Tony had been carrying the weight of Henry’s death since witnessing his friend be killed by Jonah in the previous episode . He had not had a moment to process the loss. The relief of having Tali back allowed that grief to break through.
In a quiet moment, Tony had to tell Tali that her “Uncle Henry” had died. This was a devastating conversation for both of them, as Henry was a close family friend . The episode ended with Tony breaking down, overwhelmed by the loss of his friend and the near-loss of his daughter .
Following the attack, Tony and Ziva debated sending Tali to another safe house for her protection. However, Tali strongly objected. She told her parents, “I know what tear gas tastes like. You sent me away, and they found me. What if they find me again?” . She argued that separation did not guarantee safety and expressed her desire to stay with her family. This showed a significant moment of maturity for the young character .
The Next Mission: Uncovering Jonah’s Plan
While the family drama unfolded, the larger conspiracy against Tony and Ziva continued. The hacker duo on their team, Claudette and Boris, uncovered a crucial development. They realized that the drone stolen by Jonah had been returned to the security company Reigning Fire .
Boris called this move an “audacious Trojan Horse” . The plan was for Reigning Fire to plug the drone into their system for diagnostics, which would then install malware giving Jonah complete access to the company’s servers . The team deduced that every clue—the hospital hacking, the computer chip, and the drone—points back to Reigning Fire’s owner, Aaron Graves, who is described as one of the most dangerous men in the world .
With this new information, Tony decided their next move. He stated that they need to find out why Jonah is targeting Aaron Graves . Their mission is no longer just about clearing their own names; it is about stopping Jonah from executing a larger, unknown plan involving a powerful and dangerous figure .
