Fans of the original Marvel Netflix series have been waiting for news about how the street-level heroes will fit into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 set to arrive next month, one original star who will not appear in the new episodes has given the show a strong vote of confidence. Jessica Henwick, who played Colleen Wing in ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘The Defenders’ , recently visited the set of the upcoming season and came away very impressed. While she confirmed she is not in the new episodes, her message to longtime viewers is clear: get ready for something special.

Jessica Henwick Visits the ‘Born Again’ Set, Praises What She Saw

Jessica Henwick recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her new film, but the conversation quickly turned to ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2. Rumors had been circulating that she might reprise her role as Colleen Wing, the martial artist who took on the Iron Fist mantle at the end of ‘Iron Fist’ Season 2. Henwick shut down those rumors directly but used the opportunity to share her excitement about the show’s direction.

“I’m not on Daredevil: Born Again,” Henwick stated clearly. “I did, however, go and hang out on set, and I had a great time. I can say that the new season is going to be incredible. It’s incredible.”

She also shared her reaction to seeing her former co-star back in action. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and for Henwick, seeing him in the costume brought back fond memories of their time working together on the Netflix shows.

“Seeing Charlie in the suit was so nostalgic and fun. He’s just so perfect in that role. What a great guy, what a great show,” she said. “I’m really excited for the fans. They’re going to be happy. And fans of the Netflix shows will be very happy.”

This endorsement carries weight because Henwick knows the tone and style of those original series better than most. Her character was a fan favorite, and many viewers have wanted to see where Colleen Wing’s story goes after she gained the Iron Fist power .

What Henwick’s Comments Mean for the Future of Colleen Wing

While Jessica Henwick will not appear in Season 2, her comments suggest the door is not permanently closed on her character. Colleen Wing’s story ended on a major cliffhanger in the Netflix era. After defeating Davos, Danny Rand transferred the power of the Iron Fist to her, making her the new protector of K’un-Lun. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to follow up on that storyline.

The fact that Henwick maintains such a positive relationship with the production team and speaks so highly of the show is a good sign for the future. With ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ already renewed for a Season 3, there will be more opportunities to bring back original characters. The showrunners are clearly focused on building out the street-level world of Hell’s Kitchen, and Colleen Wing remains one of the most skilled fighters in that corner of the Marvel universe.

Rumors about Finn Jones potentially returning as Danny Rand have also been circulating, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Marvel Studios has been careful about how they reintroduce these characters, and Henwick’s absence in Season 2 indicates they are taking a measured approach to expanding the cast .

Jessica Jones Leads the Netflix Heroes Return in Season 2

Even though Colleen Wing is sitting out this round, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 is bringing back one of the biggest names from the Netflix era. Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones, and the new trailers show her teaming up with Matt Murdock to take on Wilson Fisk.

The second season picks up after the dramatic events of Season 1. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin has consolidated his power as the mayor of New York City and is actively hunting vigilantes. The teaser trailer, released in late January, shows a summer setting in Hell’s Kitchen with a poster suggesting Matt Murdock is missing. When Jessica finds him injured, she delivers a classic Jessica Jones line: “I hope you can walk, because I’m not carrying you” .

Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television and Animation, described the power struggle at the heart of the new season.

“The story is about power,” Winderbaum said. “When Wilson Fisk takes over New York, not just as a mayor but as a king, in a way, it puts him in a new class of power players on the international stage” .

Other Returning Faces and New Characters

The cast for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 includes several familiar names from the original Netflix series. Deborah Ann Woll returns as Karen Page, and Elden Henson is back as Foggy Nelson, though early footage suggests some of their scenes may take place in flashbacks. Wilson Bethel also reprises his role as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, also known as Bullseye.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will not appear in Season 2, as the character is reportedly being saved for his own spin-off project and a role in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ film .

New to the cast this season is Matthew Lillard, who plays a character named Mr. Charles. Details about his role remain under wraps, but he is described as a new antagonist who operates at a high level of politics and international diplomacy, putting him in direct conflict with both Fisk and Daredevil .

Showrunner Explains the Show’s Street-Level Focus

Dario Scardapane, the showrunner for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ , recently explained why the series stays focused on Hell’s Kitchen rather than crossing over with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with SFX Magazine, he made it clear that the show’s identity is rooted in its grounded, gritty approach.

“The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’” Scardapane said. “We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York. I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular” .

This approach explains why Jessica Jones fits so naturally into the series. Like Daredevil, her stories are rooted in the streets of New York and focus on personal conflicts rather than world-ending threats.
