A new, intense image has been released, showing actress Rebecca Ferguson in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film for the first time. The photo introduces her character, Kaulo, as an ally to Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby in the movie Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. This marks a major new addition to the popular British crime drama’s world, with the film set to hit theaters before arriving on Netflix in 2026.
Who Is Rebecca Ferguson Playing in the Peaky Blinders Movie?
The first-look image, shared by Empire Magazine, shows Rebecca Ferguson in profile with a burning structure behind her, creating a dramatic and powerful scene. In the film, she will play a character named Kaulo. Official details about Kaulo are still limited, but it has been confirmed she will be an ally to the lead character, Tommy Shelby.
Interestingly, Ferguson’s casting came about through a direct recommendation from her co-star, Cillian Murphy. The Swedish-born actress initially had concerns about joining the project, specifically about mastering the distinct Birmingham accent (known as a “Brummie” accent) that is central to the show’s identity. She humorously recalled her conversation with Murphy about the role.
โโThat ainโt happening. Could she be Swedish?โโ Ferguson said. โBasically, I said, โI canโt do a fucking Brummie [accent], mate, so what are we going to do about this?โโ
Ultimately, the chance to work with Murphy was a deciding factor for Ferguson. In an interview, she stated her reason for joining the project was simple: โI did it because I really wanted to work with Cillian Murphy.โ

The movie will continue the story of the Shelby crime family. The official synopsis reveals the film is set during World War II. Tommy Shelby returns to a bombed-out Birmingham and gets pulled into secret wartime missions that are based on true events. He will face new threats while dealing with his past and the high stakes for his country.
Series creator Steven Knight, who wrote the film, has described it as an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
