The latest episode of the hit K-drama Phantom Lawyer delivered an emotional punch as Han Na-hyun (Esom) finally got to spend precious time with her deceased sister Han So-hyun (Hwang Bo-reum-byeol). The episode, which aired on April 10, 2026, showed how the show’s lead Shin Yi-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) used his ghost-seeing ability to help the sisters reconnect before a heartbreaking farewell.
Na-hyun Learns the Truth About So-hyun Possessing Yi-rang
The episode picks up right where Episode 8 left off. Na-hyun finally understands that her sister’s spirit has been taking control of Yi-rang’s body. After spending a fun afternoon together at an amusement park, Na-hyun does not want to let go. When rain starts falling, she hugs Yi-rang tightly, afraid that So-hyun will disappear again.
Na-hyun asks Yi-rang to stay overnight at her place. She wants to do all the things So-hyun enjoyed when she was alive. The sisters play board games, watch their favorite drama together, and even create a bucket list of things So-hyun always wanted to do but never got the chance to complete.
So-hyun Accepts She Cannot Stay Forever
As the night goes on, Na-hyun tries to learn more about how ghosts work. She asks Yi-rang if some spirits can stay longer than others. She hopes her sister might be the exception. But Yi-rang gently explains why So-hyun needs to move on, not just for herself but for Na-hyun’s own good.
Na-hyun wants to talk to So-hyun without needing Yi-rang’s help. But when she cannot reach her sister on her own, she slowly realizes Yi-rang was telling the truth. So-hyun also understands that her time is limited. Before leaving, she has one final wish. She wants to bring Na-hyun and their parents back together.
The Sisters Work to Heal a Broken Family
So-hyun tells Yi-rang about her plan. She wants their mother to cook the pork kimchi stew she used to make for them. Yi-rang takes Na-hyun to her parents’ house. At first, their mother seems cold and distant. But when she apologizes for how she acted after So-hyun’s death, the family starts opening up.
Na-hyun then makes an emotional confession. She admits she believes she is the reason her sister died. Her parents are shocked to hear this. They comfort her right away. This painful but honest moment brings the family closer than they have been in years. So-hyun watches from inside Yi-rang as her final wish comes true.
Do-kyung’s Father Returns and Makes an Offer
The episode also moves forward another important storyline. Yang Do-kyung’s (Kim Kyung-nam) father Byeong-gil returns to Taebaek and takes back his position at the law firm. The relationship between father and son is clearly complicated. Byeong-gil also has a past connection to Yi-rang’s late father.
Byeong-gil visits Yi-rang’s mother at her shop. He apologizes for rejecting Yi-rang’s job application at Taebaek. He then asks her to tell Yi-rang to meet with him. When Yi-rang shows up, Byeong-gil offers him a position at the big law firm. Yi-rang refuses. He already has his own firm and wants to run it his way.
So-hyun Says Her Final Goodbye
At the end of Episode 9, So-hyun knows she has to leave. She cannot stay in the world as a ghost forever. Instead of letting Na-hyun watch her disappear, she sends a goodbye message from Yi-rang’s phone. Na-hyun arrives at the rooftop just before So-hyun passes on. She thanks her sister for spending these last few days with her. The two embrace one final time.
After So-hyun leaves, Yi-rang asks Na-hyun to join his law firm until she finds her own office space. She agrees. The episode ends with a mysterious person showing up at Yi-rang’s office, setting up new stories for the episodes ahead.
