The KBS2 romantic comedy Pump Up the Healthy Love wrapped up its 12-episode run on June 5, 2025, with a satisfying ending for its main characters. Starring Lee Jun Young as gym owner Do Hyeon Joong and Jung Eun Ji as Lee Mi Ran, the show delivered a mix of humor, romance, and personal growth. Fans are curious about whether the leads ended up together and what happened to the gym.
In the final episodes, Hyeon Joong and Mi Ran finally confessed their feelings for each other after much drama. Their relationship faced challenges, including Hyeon Joongโs obsession with fitness and Mi Ranโs insecurities. The turning point came when Hyeon Joong admitted that his love for Mi Ran was stronger than his strict diet rules.
Mi Ran received a job offer in Hawaii, which created tension between the couple. However, Hyeon Joong supported her decision, showing his growth. Meanwhile, financial struggles forced him to sell his gym. A year later, he opened a new rooftop gym, and Mi Ran returned from Hawaii, reuniting the couple.
The supporting characters also got happy endings. Lee Ji Ran reunited with her ex-boyfriend Kang Dan, while gym employees Rosa and Roy started dating. The finale tied up all loose ends, making a second season unlikely.
Writer Kim Ji Soo shared that the drama was inspired by her husbandโs gym experiences. She wanted to show how people transform their lives through fitness and self-acceptance. The cast, especially Lee Jun Young and Jung Eun Ji, received praise for their performances.
“Lee Jun Young brought warmth to Do Hyeon Joong, making viewers want to join his gym,” Kim said. “Jung Eun Ji worked hard to portray Mi Ranโs body image struggles, even changing her weight for the role.”
The showโs ratings started at 1.8% but dipped to 0.7% in episode 11 before slightly recovering in the finale. Despite low viewership, it gained a strong fanbase for its relatable themes and chemistry between the leads.
