The actress launches a health podcast to share her experience and raise awareness

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, one of the leading actresses in the Indian film industry, has opened up about her personal and professional challenges in the past year. In her newly launched podcast, Take 20, she talks about how she was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation and weakness in the muscles. She also shares how her life has changed after her separation from her ex-husband, actor Naga Chaitanya.

Myositis: A rare and lifelong condition

In the first episode of her podcast, which was uploaded on her YouTube channel, Samantha is joined by wellness coach and nutritionist Alkesh Sharotri, who explains the causes, symptoms, and treatment of myositis. Samantha reveals that she woke up with the condition one day, after feeling calm and relaxed for the first time in a long time. She says that the year before she had the problem was an extremely difficult year for her, as she was going through a lot of stress and turmoil.

Myositis is a rare condition that affects about one in 100,000 people, according to Alkesh. It can be triggered by various factors, such as infections, medications, environmental toxins, or genetic predisposition. It can affect any muscle in the body, but most commonly affects the muscles of the limbs, neck, and chest. It can cause symptoms such as fatigue, pain, stiffness, difficulty in swallowing, breathing, or speaking, and skin rashes. There is no cure for myositis, but it can be managed with medication, physiotherapy, and lifestyle changes.

Samantha also opens up about her divorce from Naga Chaitanya, whom she married in 2017 after dating for several years.
