Fans of School Spirits can finally mark their calendars. Paramount+ has officially set January 28, 2026, as the return date for the show’s third season. The streaming service made the announcement along with the release of a first-look teaser at the CCXP fan event in São Paulo, Brazil, where star Peyton List was present. The new season promises a darker mystery for Maddie Nears and her friends as the barrier between the living and the dead starts to collapse.

School Spirits Season 3 will premiere on Paramount+ on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The season will launch with a special three-episode premiere on that day. Following the initial drop, new episodes will be released weekly.

What to Expect in Season 3
The upcoming season picks up after the major events of Season 2, which saw Maddie Nears miraculously return to life. However, her return to the living world comes with significant challenges.
“Now she’s back in her body and trying to pick up the pieces of her life,” Peyton List said about her character at the CCXP panel. “Her best friend is trapped, and she’s trying to get him out.”
The core conflict of the new season centers on Maddie’s struggle to balance two worlds. While she is alive, she is haunted by terrifying visions and carries the heavy responsibility of protecting both her living friends and the spirits she left behind. Meanwhile, her best friend Simon, played by Kristian Ventura, remains trapped in the afterlife. He becomes focused on uncovering the dark secrets hidden within Split River High’s history, seeking answers to why so many people have died there and what their teacher, Mr. Martin, was trying to warn them about.
List also explained the emotional dilemma for Maddie, stating, “She’s fallen completely in love with these [deceased] characters, so it’s really hard for her to choose” between the living and the dead. The new teaser confirms the season will plunge the characters into a “deeper, darker mystery” where everything they thought they knew will be challenged.
Returning Faces and New Cast Members
The main cast from previous seasons will return for this new chapter. This includes Peyton List as Maddie, Kristian Ventura as Simon, and Spencer MacPherson as Xavier. They are joined by Milo Manheim as Wally, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, and Miles Elliot and Ci Hang Ma.
Season 3 will also introduce several new recurring guest stars. The most notable addition is Jennifer Tilly, who will play a character named Dr. Hunter-Price. Other new faces include Ari Dalbert as Kyle and Erika Swayze as Livia. Familiar recurring stars like Maria Dizzia, Patrick Gilmore, and Ian Tracey are also set to return.

School Spirits was created by siblings Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud. For the third season, they continue as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Oliver Goldstick. Peyton List also serves as an executive producer on the series.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios. Production for the eight-episode third season began in Vancouver in July 2025 and wrapped in mid-October of the same year. The official renewal was announced by Paramount+ in March 2025, with the network noting the show’s audience had grown from its first to its second season. At the time of renewal, Shauna Phelan of Awesomeness TV and Nickelodeon said, “We are so thrilled to bring School Spirits back to our devoted audiences for another season of masterful storytelling brought to life by Peyton List and the incredible cast”.
