Fans of SEVENTEEN can finally breathe a sigh of relief! The leader, S.Coups, has been officially exempted from mandatory military service in South Korea. This news comes after months of concern following a serious knee injury S.Coups sustained in August 2023.

Military Exemption Explained

On March 1, 2024, SEVENTEEN’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, confirmed that S.Coups underwent a physical examination and was classified as Grade 5 for military service. This classification means that due to the severity of his injury, S.Coups is fully exempt from active duty military service. However, in the case of war, he would be required to participate in some form of civil service.

The injury that led to the exemption was a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in S.Coups’ left knee. He underwent surgery to repair the ligament and surrounding tissues, which significantly impacted his ability to participate in physical activities.

S.Coups to Rejoin SEVENTEEN for Upcoming Activities

This news is a double win for SEVENTEEN fans! Not only is S.Coups exempt from military service, but he’s also set to rejoin the group for their upcoming activities. The idol has been unable to participate in various promotions and performances, including their Japan tour and the song “God of Music” from their October 2023 mini-album, “Seventeenth Heaven.”

However, Pledis Entertainment has announced that S.Coups, along with fellow member Jeonghan, will be resuming activities soon. Fans can expect to see them back on stage for SEVENTEEN’s highly anticipated encore concert at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium in South Korea on March 30 and 31, 2024.

Is SEVENTEEN Comeback on the Horizon?

While the news of S.Coups’ return is exciting, fans are also eager for new music from SEVENTEEN. Pledis Entertainment addressed these rumors, stating that there is no confirmed date for a new album yet. However, they did assure fans that an official announcement regarding SEVENTEEN’s upcoming schedule, which is likely to include a comeback, will be made at a later date. With the group gearing up for their encore concert and S.Coups back in action, it’s safe to say that a SEVENTEEN comeback might be just around the corner!
