In a recent episode of ‘Suchwita (Time to Drink with SUGA),’ a surprise unfolded as CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa spilled the beans on how he and BTS’s SUGA became pals. The revelation took fans by storm during the January 15 episode(EP 25), shedding light on the unexpected camaraderie between the two chart-topping musicians.

During the episode, SUGA kicked off the chat, suggesting, “Let’s talk about how we became friends.” This led Jung Yong Hwa to share the backstory that goes back to 2015, a time when he was promoting ‘One Fine Day,’ and SUGA was rocking the ‘I NEED U’ era.

Jung Yong Hwa reminisced, “‘One Fine Day’ marked my solo debut, and I felt a bit lonely. Backstage, I stumbled upon BTS, who were on the rise as emerging stars.” SUGA chimed in with a dose of humor, noting, “Things were picking up for us after two albums that didn’t do so well.”

Digging into their friendship tale, Jung Yong Hwa disclosed, “Even before our face-to-face meeting, my bandmates and I would discuss BTS. We noticed something unique about them and got curious. During our simultaneous promotions, I approached SUGA and casually asked, ‘What do you do on days off?’”

Surprisingly, SUGA’s response showcased BTS’s commitment to their craft. “You said ‘We write songs’ or ‘We work.’ Younger artists usually don’t give such answers, often citing a lack of days off or not being able to hang out. But you guys were different, and I sensed you’d hit it big,” complimented Jung Yong Hwa.

Adding a touch of humor, he wrapped up the revelation by saying, “So, I thought I should get closer to you,” prompting laughter from SUGA.

This heartwarming glimpse into SUGA and Jung Yong Hwa’s friendship adds a new chapter to the vibrant world of K-pop, emphasizing the genuine connections behind the K-pop idols.
