Sunny Deol, who recently delivered a blockbuster with Gadar 2 (2023), has finally opened up on the rumours of his upcoming films. The actor says he is amused by the many sequel speculations doing the rounds and that he will announce his projects himself.
In an exclusive interview with us, the 66-year-old actor says, “It has been there ever since Gadar released, ‘yeh part 2 kar raha hoon, voh part 12 kar raha hoon’, arre kitni part 2 kar raha hoon! Har cheez ke rumours chale jaa rahe hain. I will announce it myself. People like to speculate.”
Sunny Deol, who is known for his patriotic and action films, says he does not feel any pressure to live up to the expectations of his fans. “I do films that I believe in and that I enjoy doing. I don’t think about what others will think or say. I have been in this industry for a long time and I have seen ups and downs. I am grateful for the love and support of my audience,” he says.

One film that the actor has confirmed is his collaboration with director Rajkumar Santoshi and actor-producer Aamir Khan, titled Lahore 1947. The film is a historical drama set during the partition of India and Pakistan and is expected to release in 2024.
“Gadar 2 has been successful so this film is happening,” quips Sunny Deol, “We have been with this film for the past 15-17 years, but it wasn’t happening. Gadar has opened a lot of doors for all of us. Raj is very talented, he has got a lot of great subjects. People have seen him and me doing three films together, all different genres, and all masterpieces.”
The duo has earlier worked on Ghayal (1990), Ghatak (1996) and Damini (1993), which are considered as cult classics in Indian cinema. Aamir, on the other hand, had collaborated with Santoshi on Andaz Apna Apna (1994), which is widely regarded as one of the best comedy films of all time.
Sunny Deol, says he is excited to work with Santoshi and Aamir again and that he is confident about the film. “People’s expectations are very high but I am not putting that in my mind. If I love the subject, I will do the character, rather than feeling insecure ki logon ko yeh achha nahi lagega, voh achha nahi lagega. I have full faith in Raj and Aamir. They are both very passionate and dedicated to their work. I am sure we will make a great film together,” he concludes.
