After a long wait, filming for the third season of Euphoria is nearly complete. Star Sydney Sweeney recently shared that she has finished her work on the show, describing the return to set as a comforting reunion. In a surprising reveal, she admitted that even as a main cast member, she knows very little about the new season’s full plot and will be watching it as a fan when it airs.
Sweeney Wraps Filming and Returns to Her TV Family
Sydney Sweeney confirmed she finished filming for Euphoria in late October 2025. Reflecting on her return after a three-year break, she said it felt like going back to family. She highlighted that much of the crew from the earlier seasons was back, making the experience nostalgic and comforting.
โItโs mostly the same crew, so it feels like Iโm going home to family. Iโve grown up with them. I was 20 when I did the pilot, so being able to see a lot of the same people, it feels very comforting,” she said .
This reunion comes after multiple delays that pushed the production of the new season forward. The show’s return has been highly anticipated by fans since the second season concluded in early 2022.
A Secretive Production Leaves the Cast in the Dark
A fascinating aspect of the new season’s production is how secretive it has been. Sweeney is not the only star who has confessed to knowing very little about the overall story. Her co-star, Jacob Elordi, explained that the cast films their storylines separately, comparing the secrecy to “FBI files.”
โEverybody shoots at different storylines. I donโt know what anyone else is doing. I had a really singular storyline. You donโt know what the other story lines are. Itโs like FBI files. So itโs great because Iโll get to consume the show the same way that everybody else does as a fan,” Elordi stated .
Sweeney echoed this sentiment, noting that she only knows bits and pieces of other storylines when they interact with her character, Cassie. This has led her to exclaim that she feels she will get to watch the new season with fresh eyes, just like the audience .
What We Know About the New Season
While specific plot details are under wraps, some key details about Season 3 have been confirmed. The season will feature a significant time jump, moving the main characters beyond their high school years. The show’s creator, Sam Levinson, has described the new season as a “film noir” that will follow Zendaya’s character, Rue, as she “explores what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world” .
The cast has also seen major changes. The principal cast, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney, is returning. However, they will be joined by a large group of new actors, including Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Sharon Stone . The season will also have to address the absence of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco and died in 2023, and Storm Reid, who confirmed she will not return as Rue’s sister, Gia .
In exciting news for the show’s iconic sound, Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer has joined the team to work on the score alongside Labrinth .
Sweeney on Her Character’s “Wild Ride” and the Show’s Future
Though Sweeney has stayed quiet on specifics, she has hinted that her character, Cassie, is in for a “wild ride” in the new season. She mentioned she was “definitely very shocked by the turns of Cassieโs life” .
When asked about the possibility of a fourth season, Sweeney was very tight-lipped. HBO has suggested that the third season will be the show’s conclusion, but Sweeney did not confirm this.
โI cannot confirm any information,” she said, though she added that she loves her character and would be open to more stories if they exist .
Euphoria Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in spring 2026 .
