The upcoming slice-of-life anime The Food Diary of Miss Maid has released its second promotional video, giving fans another look at the cheerful series before its April debut. The new trailer features the ending theme song “Shiawase Flavor” (Happiness Flavor) performed by the girl group ARCANA PROJECT.
The 30-second video showcases more scenes of main character Suzume Tachibana exploring Japanese food culture, from sweet treats to savory street snacks. The ending theme plays throughout, matching the lighthearted tone of the series with its upbeat melody and positive lyrics about finding happiness in everyday meals.
What to Expect From The Food Diary of Miss Maid
The anime follows Suzume Tachibana, a maid-in-training who finds herself staying in Japan for one year. Instead of focusing on drama or conflict, the story centers on her food experiences across the country. She tries everything from taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes filled with sweet red bean) and melon bread to takoyaki (octopus balls) and onigiri (rice balls).
The series comes from the manga by Susumu Maeya, which started on Kodansha’s Comic Days website in December 2019. The digital manga is still ongoing, with five compiled volumes released so far. Kodansha USA publishes the English digital version, describing it as a story where food takes center stage in everyday life.

Story Background and Manga Source
The original manga follows a simple but effective formula: Suzume Tachibana, an English-style maid, spends her year in Japan exploring food culture. Each chapter focuses on different Japanese dishes, with Chun the sparrow providing context about the food’s history, preparation, or cultural significance.
Kodansha USA Publishing describes the premise as: “What’s a maid to do when she finds herself suddenly stuck in Japan for a year? Eat, of course! Follow maid-in-training Suzume Tachibana as she tries all sorts of Japanese food, from sweets like taiyaki and melon bread to savory snacks like takoyaki and onigiri!”
The fifth manga volume came out in November 2025, and the series continues to release new chapters digitally through Kodansha’s Comic Days platform.
