The Simpsons will return for its 37th season on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 8/7c on Fox. This marks the start of a historic four-season renewal, taking the show through Season 40 in 2029. Fans can expect 15 new episodes airing on Fox, plus two exclusive Disney+ specials each season.
The upcoming season will feature the showโs 800th episode in 2026, a major milestone for the longest-running primetime animated series. The original voice cast, including Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Julie Kavner (Marge), Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, and Yeardley Smith (Lisa), will all return.
Whatโs New in The Simpsons Season 37?
The showโs format is changing slightly, with fewer episodes per season. Showrunner Matt Selman explained:
โWe used to do 22 a year. For the next four [seasons], weโre doing 17 a year. Fifteen that will premiere in America on Fox, and then two exclusives on Disney+. Itโs still a full-time job.โ
Season 37 will include a mix of classic humor and fresh guest stars. Confirmed guest voices include:
- Kieran Culkin (Succession)
- Glenn Howerton (Itโs Always Sunny in Philadelphia)
- Albert Brooks (returning fan favorite)
- Danny Pudi (Community)
- Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson (real-life father-son duo)
Special Episodes and Halloween Fun
One of the most anticipated episodes is “Treehouse of Horror XXXVI”, the annual Halloween special. This yearโs edition will feature:
- A 1970s-themed horror segment with a “grease monster” attacking Springfield.
- Krusty the Clown making a deal with the devil.
- A post-apocalyptic plastic future where Bart and Lisa fight for survival.
Guest stars for this episode include Idris Elba, Michael Keaton, and Viola Davis.
Another confirmed episode, “Bad Boysโฆ For Life?”, will be a Bart-centric flashback story featuring guest star Matthew Modine.
Where to Watch The Simpsons
All previous 36 seasons are available to stream on Disney+, along with other platforms like Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV. New episodes will air weekly on Fox, with the two Disney+ exclusives dropping later in the season.
