Prime Video has announced the release plan for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, the final chapter of Belly’s love triangle. The season will premiere on July 16, 2025, with two episodes dropping first. New episodes will follow every Wednesday until the finale on September 17, 2025.
The show’s third season will have 11 episodes, making it the longest season yet. Fans will see Belly (Lola Tung) torn between Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) one last time. The story picks up after a time jump, showing Belly and Jeremiah in a long-term relationship.
Author and showrunner Jenny Han confirmed this season follows the final book, We’ll Always Have Summer. However, she hinted at surprises for book fans. The trailer teases a major event—Belly and Jeremiah’s engagement—which shocks her mother Laurel (Jackie Chung).
“First loves are important. But they’re not as important as lasts,” Belly says in the trailer. Scenes also show Conrad re-entering her life, sparking old feelings. Taylor Swift’s songs “Daylight” and “Red” set the emotional tone in the preview.
The cast includes returning stars like Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor), and Rachel Blanchard (Susannah). New actors joining include Kristen Connolly and Isabella Briggs. Filming took place in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Chapel Hill.
“Three books, three seasons. It feels right to me,” Han told Entertainment Weekly. She added that while the show stays close to the books, some changes will surprise viewers. The love triangle’s resolution remains a secret, keeping fans guessing.
Lola Tung shared her thoughts on Belly’s journey: “It’s powerful to see the love she has for both people.” Gavin Casalegno mentioned his real-life marriage helped him understand the deeper emotions in the story.
Season 2 ended with Belly choosing Jeremiah, but Conrad’s return complicates things. The new season explores their college life, family tensions, and big decisions. Fans of the books know the original ending, but the show may switch things up.
Prime Video released new posters highlighting the love triangle. One shows Belly in a garden setting, hinting at a wedding. Another focuses on the three leads, keeping the final choice mysterious. The show’s social media has also teased new looks.
“You can’t make everyone happy. I wish I could, but I have to please myself first as a storyteller,” Han said about the ending. The cast has stayed tight-lipped, only confirming that emotions will run high in the finale.
