A Ten Hour Test Of Strength

The police do not go easy on Dr. Ingrid Derian during the questioning. They bring her in for three separate rounds of questioning, which add up to a total of ten hours. The detectives do not believe her story right away. They think there are holes in her explanation and keep trying to catch her making a mistake. The officers believe that there is more to Beck’s death than Ingrid is telling them. This long back and forth becomes the main focus of her story in this episode.

Why Ingrid Killed Beck

To understand the interrogation, viewers must look back at the previous episode, Season 2 Episode 18. In that episode, Ingrid discovers that Beck is a killer who has murdered people before. She also finds out that Beck is getting ready to hurt her friend and colleague, Sasha. Because she believes Sasha is in immediate danger, Ingrid acts first. She kills Beck to stop him from hurting anyone else. Even though she does it to save a life, the police see it as a murder. During the questioning, Ingrid stays very strong and does not admit to any revenge motive.

The Problem With Taking Justice Alone

A major part of the episode looks at the difference between self defense and taking the law into your own hands. Ingrid keeps telling the police she acts in self defense, but the reality is more complicated. She goes to stop Beck before he can hurt Sasha. In the eyes of the law, this is sometimes called vigilantism, which means acting as a detective or judge without permission. Ingrid knows that if she admits she is getting revenge, her case will be ruined. Sasha is very shaken by the whole event and wants to talk about it. However, Ingrid refuses to discuss what happened because she knows any wrong word could send her to jail.

A Medical Crisis In The Operating Room

While Ingrid fights for her freedom, the hospital falls into chaos. Adam’s wife, Lauren, goes into the operating room for a C section to deliver her triplets. During the surgery, the OB GYN doctor suddenly passes out. This leaves the medical team in a very dangerous situation with three babies and a mother in trouble. Because the main doctor is unconscious, the staff at the hospital must think very fast to save the lives of Lauren and her triplets. This event adds to the theme of the episode, which is all about sudden emergencies and high pressure.

A Severe Storm Blocks Watson

At the same time, Dr. John Watson and Mary are not at the hospital. They are on a trip to find a famous doctor who might be able to remove Watson’s brain tumor. However, a very bad thunderstorm hits while they are traveling. The storm is so severe that it blocks their path and stops them from reaching the doctor. This means Watson still has not gotten the help he needs for his serious illness. The storm forces them to turn back or take shelter, delaying a treatment that could save his life.

The Return Of Sherlock Holmes

The end of Episode 19 has a huge surprise for everyone watching. Shinwell Johnson is called to the emergency room for a mysterious patient. When he arrives, he sees Sherlock Holmes sitting on a hospital bed. This is a big shock because everyone thinks Sherlock is just a hallucination caused by Watson’s brain tumor. Sherlock looks hurt and confused. When Shinwell asks if he is okay, Sherlock does not recognize him. He asks, Do I know you? This ending proves that Sherlock Holmes is actually alive and back in the story. It changes everything for the final episode of the season.
