This week in Korean entertainment, the spotlight is on several significant updates, from BTS’ V facing backlash over alleged contacts with Min Hee Jin during his military enlistment, to G-Dragon‘s long-awaited comeback, and the release of a trailer for Squid Game Season 2. Here’s everything you need to know.

BTS’ V Faces Controversy Over Alleged Contact with Min Hee Jin

On October 29, music producer Min Hee Jin appeared as a guest on music critic Kim Young Dae’s YouTube channel, where she discussed various industry issues and her experiences. During the interview, Min Hee Jin mentioned that BTS member V, who is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service, occasionally contacts her. She described him as “cheerful and lovely,” explaining that he reached out to check on her during challenging moments in his enlistment.

The revelation has sparked heated reactions among netizens, with some expressing concerns over V’s alleged interactions with Min Hee Jin during his military service. One netizen, who claimed to be a fan of LE SSERAFIM, publicly disclosed on an online forum that they filed a formal complaint against V, accusing him of breaching military conduct by contacting Min Hee Jin during training. This incident has reportedly drawn attention from the Ministry of Defense.

HYBE CEO Apologizes Over Leaked Report Criticizing K-Pop Idols

On the same day, HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang issued a public apology following the unauthorized release of an internal document that contained explicit comments about other K-pop idols. In his statement posted on the company’s official website, Lee Jae Sang acknowledged the report’s inappropriate language and expressed regret over the controversy.

“This document was created as part of a process to retrospectively gather various reactions and public opinions on industry trends and issues. Although it was intended to be shared only with a limited number of leaders to understand market and fan sentiments, the content was highly inappropriate.”

He also indicated that HYBE would be reaching out to other agencies to address the incident and prevent similar issues in the future.

G-Dragon’s Long-Awaited Comeback with New Single “POWER”

After a 7-year hiatus, BIGBANG star G-Dragon has officially returned with a new digital single, POWER, released on October 31. The song, which serves as a pre-release track for his upcoming album, features G-Dragon’s distinctive rap style blended with energetic hip-hop beats. The lyrics explore themes of media influence and its impact on his life as a public figure.

The accompanying music video quickly gained traction, amassing 14 million views within three days. G-Dragon’s return marks a significant event in K-pop, and fans are eagerly awaiting the full release of his album, expected to showcase more of his signature style.

Squid Game Season 2 Trailer Unveiled Ahead of December Premiere

On November 1, Netflix released the official trailer for Squid Game Season 2, ramping up anticipation for the series’ December debut. The trailer features the return of iconic characters played by Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Park Sung Hoon, and Wi Ha Joon, while also introducing new faces such as BIGBANG’s T.O.P and Im Siwan.

The trailer offers a brief glimpse into the high-stakes environment players will face, underscoring the themes of survival, greed, and betrayal that made the first season a global hit. With its intense visuals and suspenseful scenes, the trailer has heightened excitement among fans for what lies ahead.

Min Hee Jin’s Reappointment Appeal for ADOR CEO Dismissed by Court

In a separate development, on October 28, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed an injunction appeal filed by Min Hee Jin seeking reappointment as the CEO of ADOR. The court’s ruling indicated that the appeal did not meet the necessary legal requirements, resulting in the closure of the case.

With this decision, Min Hee Jin will continue serving as ADOR’s internal director for the next three years, focusing on managing the production of NewJeans, a rising K-pop group under ADOR’s management.
