The hit television series Yellowjackets will officially conclude with its upcoming fourth season. The announcement from the show’s creators led to an emotional public response from star Samantha Hanratty, who plays the young Misty Quigley, as she thanked the show’s dedicated fans.

Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson confirmed that the next season will be the show’s last. They explained the decision came from a desire to respect the story’s natural conclusion. In a joint statement, they said the show has reached the point where it is ready to end.
“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” the creators stated. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen.”
They expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to tell this “emotional, wild, and deeply human story,” and gave a special thanks to the fans, whom they call “the Hive.” They promised a final chapter that will be “delicious.”
A Star’s Emotional Goodbye
Shortly after the news became public, Samantha Hanratty posted a tearful video on TikTok. She appeared to have just learned the news, sharing her raw feelings with the show’s followers. Her reaction showed both her sadness about the series ending and her immense gratitude for being part of it.
“So, as you can see, we just got the news, and it looks like all of you did too,” Hanratty said in the video. “This is gonna be the final season of Yellowjackets, and I don’t really know how to take it in. Clearly, I’m very emotional, and I know that all good things must come to an end. I’m just extremely, extremely grateful to have been a part of this show.”
She described the feeling as a “mourning process,” but quickly shifted to promising an amazing final season for the fans.
“I promise you, we are going to make this last season so incredibly amazing. And I’m so excited to start working on it,” she said.
What Is Yellowjackets About?
For those who may not know, Yellowjackets is a critically acclaimed psychological horror and survival drama that first aired in 2021. The story follows a New Jersey high school girls’ soccer team after their plane crashes in the remote wilderness on the way to a national championship.
The show uses two timelines. One follows the teenagers in the 1990s as they struggle to survive the harsh conditions, facing starvation and their own psychological breakdowns. The other timeline catches up with the survivors decades later, showing how the trauma of their experience continues to affect their adult lives. When to Expect the Final Season
Production for the fourth and final season is set to begin in 2026. The season will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime later that same year. The writers’ room for the final season is already open, and the creators have confirmed they already have an idea for the show’s grand finale.
