A routine flight turned into the latest chapter of a decades-old hip-hop feud this week. Rapper Ja Rule got into a heated argument with Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, two associates of his longtime rival 50 Cent, while on board a Delta flight from San Francisco to New York City. Videos of the exchange, shared online by Uncle Murda, show a shouting match before takeoff. The incident resulted in at least one person being removed from the aircraft and prompted immediate mocking commentary from 50 Cent himself.
Details of the In-Flight Argument
The confrontation happened on the morning of Sunday, February 8, on a Delta Air Lines flight scheduled to travel from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). The rappers were seated close to each other, with Ja Rule in a row directly in front of Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda.
The trouble started shortly after boarding. According to reports, Ja Rule made an initial comment about the two men being on his flight. This quickly escalated into a loud verbal dispute. In a video clip posted by Uncle Murda, he is heard saying, “Sucka aโ Ja Rule on the plane,” to which Ja Rule immediately turns and fires back, “Old aโ, police aโ, sucka aโ!”.
Ja Rule later claimed on social media, “I popped on these punks by myself on a planeโฆ I threw the pillow at yayo head cuz you softโฆ knocked ya hat all off sh*t was hilarious.”
Additional footage obtained by TMZ showed Ja Rule standing in the aisle, visibly upset and repeating “Let’s shake” while another passenger tried to calm him down. Witnesses stated that Ja Rule yelled profanities, expressed a desire to fight, and at one point threw a pillow at Tony Yayo. In response, Yayo yelled back that airplanes are “federal offense territory” and asserted he had done nothing wrong.
Aftermath and Conflicting Stories
The cabin crew intervened. A Delta spokesperson confirmed that two customers were spoken to following a disagreement and that one customer was rebooked on a later flight. The flight continued to JFK without further issue.
There are conflicting accounts of who left the plane. In a follow-up video, Uncle Murda filmed himself sitting in Ja Rule’s now-empty seat, claiming, “Ja got off the plane lol I took his seat”. However, Ja Rule presented a different version. In a since-deleted social media post, he stated he was removed from the aircraft by the crew. He wrote that he was asked to leave because passengers didn’t feel safe and the crew considered him “the aggressor”.
Ja Rule also shared a message he said was from a TMZ staffer seeking comment. The message relayed a witness account describing Ja as the aggressor who yelled profanities, wanted to fight, and threw the pillow, leading the crew to pull both men off the plane briefly.
50 Cent’s Immediate Reaction
As he has done for over twenty years, 50 Cent seized the moment to troll his rival. He reposted the viral confrontation videos to his Instagram on Monday, February 9, adding his own pointed caption.
50 Cent wrote: “He was by his self so he had to make a scene so they could remove his scary aโโฆ LOL YAYO said suck my dโk, the gay stewardess said it’s going down. LOL.”
His comment suggests he believed Ja Rule intentionally caused a disturbance to be removed from the flight because he was outnumbered. The post was quickly seen by 50 Cent’s 38 million followers.

The History Behind the Feud
This airborne argument is just a small skirmish in one of hip-hop’s longest-running conflicts. The beef between 50 Cent and Ja Rule began in the late 1990s. Its exact origins are debated but are often tied to incidents at music video shoots involving stolen jewelry or personal slights.
The rivalry peaked in the early 2000s, fueling numerous diss tracks from both sides and defining a major divide in New York hip-hop at the time. Both artists have told different stories about a physical fight that allegedly occurred in an Atlanta hotel, each claiming victory.
While the intensity of the feud has diminished over the decades, 50 Cent has maintained a consistent pattern of mocking Ja Rule online, using social media to amplify any negative news or misstep involving his old foe. This plane incident provided the latest opportunity.
