After three years of waiting, Ted Lasso Season 4 is officially coming to Apple TV. The streaming service announced on April 28 that Season 4 will premiere on August 5, 2026. Along with the release date, Apple dropped the first teaser trailer showing what fans can expect from the new season.

The 10-episode season will release weekly on Wednesdays, with the finale arriving on October 7, 2026. Viewers in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and all other regions with Apple TV access will get the episodes at the same time globally.

Ted Returns to Richmond With a New Challenge

The teaser shows Jason Sudeikis back as the mustache-wearing American coach. But this time, things look different. Season 3 ended with Ted going back to Kansas City to be closer to his son Henry. The new season brings him back across the ocean for what Apple calls his “biggest challenge yet”.

Ted will coach a second division women’s football team at AFC Richmond. The official description says the season follows Ted and the team as they “learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would”.

The teaser gives a quick look at Ted on a South London street. A passerby shouts at him: “Welcome back, Coach. Too bad you’re coaching a bunch of girls, ya wanker.” Ted just tips his hat and keeps walking with a smile.

Andrea Anders appears as Ted’s ex-wife Michelle. Matteo van der Grijn returns as Matthijs, the Dutch pilot Rebecca dated in Season 3. Tracey Ullman joins as a guest star in an unknown role.

The show added several new cast members as series regulars. Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely have all joined the show. Feely replaces Gus Turner as Ted’s son Henry.

What the Teaser Trailer Shows

The teaser runs about a minute and a half. It uses “Rubber Band Man” by Mumford & Sons and Hozier as the background music. The clip shows Ted getting comfortable in London again. It also gives quick shots of the women’s team in action.

Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca appears to be happy with her pilot boyfriend. Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein’s characters Keeley and Roy look like they are still having tension between them. Coach Beard attends his wife Jane’s one-woman show with Ted sitting next to him.

Ted’s ex-wife Michelle and son Henry also appear in the teaser. They are shown cheering him on from the stands, suggesting the family might have moved to London with him.

Why Ted Lasso Season 4 Took Three Years

Season 3 ended in May 2023. Many people thought that was the final season. Jason Sudeikis had said the story was told the way the team wanted to tell it. But in March 2025, Apple officially ordered a fourth season.

The three-year gap between seasons is the longest in the show’s history. Seasons 1 through 3 came out yearly between 2020 and 2023. The writing and production team needed extra time to figure out where to take the story after Ted went back to America.

Jack Burditt joined Season 4 as an executive producer under a new deal with Apple TV. Brett Goldstein continues as a writer and executive producer alongside Leann Bowen. Bill Lawrence still executive produces through his Doozer Productions company.

Where to Watch Previous Seasons

All three earlier seasons of Ted Lasso are streaming now on Apple TV. The show won multiple Emmy awards, including back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series wins for its first two seasons. Season 1 became the most Emmy-nominated comedy series in history.

Fans who want to catch up before August have plenty of time. The first three seasons have 34 episodes total. Season 1 has 10 episodes, Season 2 has 12, and Season 3 has 12.
