What Happened To Benson In The Episode
The courtroom scenes took a shocking turn when Trevor Langan asked Benson if Emma had a history of sexual abuse. Benson had promised Emma to keep that secret safe, so she refused to answer. The judge held her in contempt of court, and she was handcuffed and taken into custody.

A.D.A. Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino) arranged for Emma to visit Benson in holding. Emma then agreed to testify about her past abuse. Talia was found guilty on all charges. But after Benson returned to the precinct, Chief Kathryn Tynan (Noma Dumezweni) arrived and suspended her immediately. Benson had to turn over her badge and service weapon.
Detective Jake Griffin (Corey Cott) argued with Tynan about the suspension, but she would not change her mind. Griffin later found a gun in a storage locker that belonged to his late father. The gun could be connected to a cover-up involving Tynan from years ago.
