What Happened in Season 1
Sasaki and Peeps follows Sasaki, a corporate worker in his late 30s who buys a Java sparrow from a pet shop for companionship. The bird, named Peeps, is actually Piercarlo, a powerful sage reincarnated from another world. Peeps grants Sasaki the ability to travel between modern Japan and a fantasy world, along with the power of magic.
Sasaki begins using his new abilities to run a business in the other world, importing Japanese goods and selling them at a profit. His quiet double life takes a sharp turn when he encounters a psychic on his way home from work. He escapes using magic but is mistaken for a psychic himself and recruited by the Cabinet Office’s Paranormal Phenomena Countermeasure Bureau, a government agency that deals with supernatural threats.
The first season ran for 12 episodes from January to March 2024. It introduced a large cast of characters from both worlds, including government agents, psychics, magical girls, and nobles from the fantasy realm. The season ended with a major battle at the Bureau headquarters involving the magical girls Magical Pink and Magical Yellow.
Where Each Main Character Stands
Sasaki has settled into an uneasy routine. He works his corporate job, runs his otherworld business, and answers calls from the Bureau when supernatural trouble arises. His goal is a quiet life, but his various responsibilities keep pulling him in different directions. The Season 2 trailer shows him facing new threats from both the fantasy world and modern Japan.
Peeps remains Sasaki’s closest companion and magical mentor. The reincarnated sage is fond of Japanese wagyu chateaubriand and often pushes Sasaki toward a slow-paced life of eating and sleeping. His knowledge of magic and the other world continues to guide Sasaki through dangerous situations.
Ms. Hoshizaki is a government esper with water manipulation abilities who works alongside Sasaki at the Bureau. She cannot create water from thin air, so she relies on Sasaki’s icicle magic during combat. Her sharp demeanor and heavy makeup hide a dedicated agent who takes her job seriously.
Otonari-san, also known as Shizuka Futari, is a middle school girl who lives next door to Sasaki. She spends most of her time sitting outside her apartment due to problems at home. Sasaki brings her food and looks out for her, and she has developed a strong attachment to him. Season 2 introduces a major development for her character, as a demon named Abaddon recruits her as his apostle.
Elsa is the daughter of Count Müller from the fantasy world. She has become entangled in Sasaki’s business dealings and the political conflicts of her realm. Her presence in the story bridges the otherworld and modern Japan storylines.
Magical Pink is a magical girl who appeared in the first season as an antagonist. She and other magical girls attacked the Bureau in the Season 1 finale. Her true identity and motivations remain part of the ongoing mystery.
New Cast Members Joining Season 2
Three new voice actors join the cast for Season 2.

Tasuku Hatanaka voices Himegami-kun, a boy who serves as the apostle of the angel Eriel. Hatanaka has appeared in My Hero Academia and Ushio and Tora.
Yu Sasahara voices Eriel, an angel who fights bravely despite her weakness. Sasahara’s previous roles include Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song and Takt Op. Destiny.
The returning Japanese cast includes Tomokazu Sugita as Sasaki, Aoi Yūki as Peeps, Rie Takahashi as Ms. Hoshizaki, Akari Kitō as Otonari-san, Miyu Tomita as Elsa, Inori Minase as Magical Pink, and Ryōtarō Okiayu as Akutsu.
