What the First Episode Is About

The World’s Strongest Witch Episode 1, titled “I Tried Using the Internet,” introduced Lorna Hermit, a 15-year-old girl born into the prestigious Gugurecarth noble family. Lorna manifested a skill that her family considered completely useless, and she was unfairly exiled from her home with nothing to her name.

The skill turned out to be SSS-rank “Internet,” an ability that lets Lorna search and browse anything about her world. She can access strategy wikis, read guides for dungeons, and find information on legendary weapons and items. Following the wiki’s instructions, Lorna walked into a forest and easily picked up the strongest cheat-level weapon available in the current game environment.

The episode followed Lorna as she adjusted to life outside her noble home, embracing her new freedom with a positive attitude. She met the World Tree spirit Yggdrasil, who entrusted her with the world’s strongest staff. The premiere also introduced the first members of Lorna’s traveling party.

Lorna Hermit and Her Skill

Lorna Hermit is the protagonist of the series. Voiced by Azusa Tachibana in Japanese, Lorna is a cheerful and free-spirited girl who wants nothing more than to live a peaceful and ordinary life. Her defining trait is her relentless positivity, which she maintains even after being cast out by her own family.

Her skill, “Internet,” functions exactly like a modern web browser within her mind. She can search for any information about her world, including enemy weaknesses, rare item locations, dungeon maps, and strategy guides. The skill’s true power lies in its ability to give Lorna knowledge that no one else in her world possesses.

“When Lorna manifests a completely useless ability, she’s labeled an embarrassment to her family and kicked out of the house. With no money or food, she’s about to hit rock bottom. But then, she figures out how to use her supposedly worthless SSS-Rank skill, ‘Internet.’” — Yen Press described the light novel’s story.

Reinhart is a character voiced by Yuto Uemura. He was introduced as a gatekeeper in a town who meets Lorna, setting his fate in motion.

Yggdrasil is the World Tree spirit who appears in Episode 1. Voiced by Nana Mizuki, Yggdrasil entrusts Lorna with the world’s strongest staff. Mizuki is a well-known voice actress and singer who has performed theme songs for popular anime including Naruto and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.
