The latest episode of Tracker took viewers on a dark and personal journey. On May 17, 2026, CBS aired the penultimate episode of Season 3, titled “Chrono Stasis.” This hour changed everything for Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley).
Instead of his usual reward hunting, Colter teamed up with his brother Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles). Together, they dug into their father’s mysterious murder. What they found was not just a secret. It was a dangerous government program involving psychic children and a hitman sent to silence them.
Here is a breakdown of the shocking events from Tracker Season 3 Episode 21 and where you can watch it.
Colter Faces His Mother About the Family Lies
The episode begins with Colter saving a lost teenager. But the real drama starts when he returns to his trailer. Russell Shaw is waiting for him. Russell has found a lead on Dr. Serena Jukic, a woman who worked with their father, Ashton.
Before they go to see her, Russell insists they stop at their childhood home in Echo Ridge. Their mother, Mary Dove Shaw (Wendy Crewson), is selling the house. Colter has avoided her since learning she called the man who killed his father.
The conversation is tense. Mary admits she lied to protect her children. She reveals that Ashton changed completely after returning from Alaska. He became paranoid and angry. She says she feared for her safety.
“I was your mother. I wanted to protect you.” – Mary Dove Shaw to Colter.
She admits she did not tell Otto to kill Ashton. But she accepts that her secrets hurt her sons. Colter finally agrees to move forward, deciding to focus on finding the truth rather than holding onto the past.
Dr. Serena Jukic Reveals the Chilling ‘Chrono Stasis’ Project
Colter and Russell travel to a remote area in Nevada. They meet Dr. Serena Jukic (Jeri Ryan). At first, her partner tries to chase them away with a gun. But Serena lets them in.
She confirms she worked with Ashton on a secret project. It was called Chrono Stasis. The government was taking geniuses and stretching their mental abilities beyond normal limits. Russell believes the U.S. was trying to compete with Russia in using psychic abilities for war.
Colter is skeptical. But Serena insists the powers were real. She then drops the biggest bombshell. The project started testing on children. Ashton was uncomfortable but went along with it. However, when a child died during an experiment in Alaska, Ashton snapped. He tried to shut the program down.
Serena stayed with the project after it moved. She grew attached to a young boy named Danny. The government told her Danny’s mother was dead. When she found out the mother was alive and that the government had faked Danny’s death, she tried to protect the boy. They kicked her out of the program, but they still watch her every move.
A Hitman Is Hired to Stop the Shaw Brothers
While Colter talks to Serena, Russell goes on a solo mission. He meets an old friend named Belton. Belton works for the agency running the project. He warns Russell to stop digging immediately.
Belton tells his boss that the Shaw brothers are getting too close. The boss asks if Belton warned them. When Belton says yes, the boss tells him to “take care of it.” The episode confirms that a hitman is now hired to kill Colter and Russell.
Back at the house, Colter breaks into a government surveillance van. He fights the driver and forces him to share information. Randy (Chris Lee) helps remotely. He discovers the company watching Serena is a front for DORIX Logistics, a private military contractor.

They drive to the facility. To cause a distraction, Colter starts a fire. They knock out a guard and steal his key card. Inside, the brothers split up.
Russell gets caught immediately. A guard holds him at gunpoint. Colter finds Danny (Reid Miller), who is now a young adult. Colter tells him that Dr. Jukic sent him to help.
But Danny does not want to leave. He has been in the program for 15 years. He tells Colter he cannot leave and threatens to press a panic button on his necklace. Colter tries to reason with him, but Danny presses the button. The episode ends as armed guards swarm the room, leaving both brothers trapped.
