The creatures’ obsession with Boyd reveals the true theme of From. The show is not just about surviving the night. It is about holding onto humanity in a place designed to strip it away.
Most people in the town have fallen into fear and paranoia. Boyd stands as the exception. He fights back. He makes plans. In Season 3 Episode 3, he even tried to capture one of the creatures alive by using a Talisman in reverse. That kind of boldness makes him a threat to the monsters’ control.
The creatures know that once fear replaces trust, the town will collapse from within. Some of the most devastating moments in From are not the deaths themselves. The guilt, grief, and desperation that follow do more damage than any monster attack.

From Season 3 ended with the return of Smiley, the monster Boyd thought he killed. Fatima gave birth to a creature that turned into Smiley, proving that the monsters cannot truly die.
