Episode 6 of Criminal Record Season 2 arrived on Apple TV+ on May 27, 2026. The episode, titled “When the Music Stops,” shifts focus from action to fallout. The explosion that ended the previous episode leaves JP seriously injured and Marco Rivelli dead. Rivelli’s death means the man responsible for Rohaan Hussain’s murder will never face justice.

Bombing Aftermath Leaves Police Force in Chaos

The episode begins with June Lenker rushing a badly injured JP to the hospital. JP survives the blast but suffers severe burns across his back, damaged lungs, and broken ribs. He only lives because Marco Rivelli’s body absorbed most of the explosion. Rivelli dies instantly, creating a major setback for the investigation.

The next morning’s police briefing turns tense. AC Ivy Mullins and Lenker discover how dangerously Hegarty handled the operation. Billy had used the emergency cough signal multiple times to warn police he was in danger. No officer stepped in to help him.

“There was no backup team nearby at all. Hegarty had intentionally waited longer, hoping to gather stronger evidence against Cosmo and Rivelli together.” – Police briefing reveals

Billy starts feeling betrayed by the police. He risked his life for them, and no one seemed to care when he needed help the most. He switches off the tracking phone the police gave him.

Cosmo Tightens Control While Lenker Faces Personal Betrayal

Cosmo Thompson grows more suspicious after the explosion. He cannot understand how Billy survived while Rivelli died. Back at The Depot boxing club, Cosmo orders Kieran and Nigel to search the lockers for the knife used in Rohaan Hussain’s murder.

Billy had secretly handed the knife to police earlier. But officers had already tested it and quietly placed it back inside the locker room before the gang searched. When the knife is found, Billy’s story appears believable again. Kieran is even forced to apologize to him.

Cosmo remains uneasy. He realizes security cameras inside the club could have helped police spy on them. He orders every visible camera turned off. But Hegarty’s team had secretly installed hidden cameras that continue recording the gang without their knowledge.

June Lenker faces a personal heartbreak in this episode. She believed she had built a strong bond with JP. But his fiancée Ella returns from Iceland after hearing about the bombing. Seeing JP and Ella together at the hospital leaves Lenker devastated. JP looks completely comfortable with Ella, making June realize he may never have planned to end things with her.

Lenker Uncovers Hegarty’s Secret Prison Operation

June Lenker has doubted Hegarty since the beginning. She finally decides to investigate him. Her search leads her to Redheath Prison, where she starts connecting details about Billy Fielding’s so-called escape.

Hegarty admits he discovered Cosmo Thompson’s link to stolen military detonators through former officer Tony Gilfoyle. Wanting to stop Cosmo’s terrorist plans, he secretly built an operation around Billy. Since Cosmo trusted Billy and believed he had been unfairly imprisoned, Hegarty used that connection to place the teenager inside Cosmo’s circle.

Billy initially refused to help police. But Hegarty found out the boy wanted freedom, so he promised Billy that all his charges would be cleared if he cooperated. When Ashley Jones planned to meet Billy in prison, Hegarty stopped it. Billy showing remorse could have reduced his sentence naturally and ruined Hegarty’s control over him.

Lenker later uncovers the biggest truth. Billy never escaped prison by himself. Security footage proves the official story was fake. A police van linked to Hegarty secretly took Billy out of prison.

Ivy Mullins wastes no time suspending Hegarty after hearing all this. He acted recklessly and put many lives in danger. He still refuses to accept that he did anything wrong.

Billy Warns of Imminent London Attack

As the episode ends, June takes the lead of the investigation. Billy warns JP that Cosmo plans to carry out the terrorist attack the very next day in London.

The investigation has focused heavily on gathering evidence until now. Billy’s information confirms the danger is no longer theoretical. The attack is close, and there is very little time left to stop it.
