The K-pop group aespa released their new music video for “Lemonade” and their second full album of the same name on May 29, 2026. The quartet made their return with an electronic dance track that turns an old saying into a confidence anthem.
The “Lemonade” music video dropped alongside the album at 1 p.m. KST on various music platforms and the SMTOWN YouTube channel. The release comes about two years after their first studio album “Armageddon” from 2024, which sold millions of copies in South Korea.
aespa Transforms Dark Worlds with New Song’s Positive Message
The title track “Lemonade” is an electronic dance song with a strong and trendy synth bass sound. The lyrics take the saying “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade” and turn it into aespa’s own promise. The message says no matter what hard times come their way, they will turn those problems into chances.
In the music video, a “lemon bug” enters aespa’s parallel world. This bug causes cracks that open something called P.O.S, which stands for Portal to Another World. The members then go back and forth through this passage and change the dark world using their own style.
The video shows Karina, Giselle, Winter, and NingNing in bright, kitschy outfits that look different from their usual futuristic image. Some fashion choices take inspiration from 1950s mod fashion, including colorful shift dresses and bouffant hair styles. Leader Karina told Vogue that the group wanted to show a “sour” version of aespa that is still very much them but with a stronger flavor.
Album Features 10 Tracks and G-Dragon Collaboration
aespa’s second album “Lemonade” comes with 10 total songs. The collection includes the pre-released single “WDA (Whole Different Animal),” which dropped earlier in May 2026. That earlier track featured a surprise collaboration with G-Dragon, the famous solo artist and member of BIGBANG.
The pre-release single “WDA” entered the Top 10 iTunes charts in 17 different countries during its first week. The hip-hop-influenced dance track helped build excitement for the full album release.
The new album marks aespa’s first full studio project since “Armageddon” in 2024. That earlier album reached second place on South Korean charts and sold over one million copies in the country. The group also released the mini-album “Rich Man” and the single album “Dirty Work” in 2025, with both title tracks reaching the top three on South Korean charts.
Fans Praise Music Video’s Look and Concept
The “Lemonade” teaser came out on May 28, one day before the full release, through the SMTOWN YouTube channel. The 8-second preview showed the members in kitschy looks that matched the song’s sharp and witty mood.
After the full video dropped, fans flooded the comments section with praise for the visuals. One fan wrote, “aespa is the only group that combines completely different concepts and at the same time creates a truly incredible symbiosis”. Another commenter said, “the aesthetics of aespa’s music videos and visuals are genuinely top-tier among all idol groups of all time”.
The group’s creative choice to blend their signature strong style with summer freshness caught attention. Winter described the new sound as keeping their “sharp” edge while adding coolness for the warmer months.
Some online discussion pointed out that the EDM-focused sound is similar to what fans had previously criticized other groups for using. However, the positive reactions from MYs, aespa’s fanbase name, showed strong support for the group’s musical direction.
