What Is Go For It, Nakamura-kun!! About?
Okuto Nakamura is not your typical anime hero. He is painfully shy, incredibly awkward, and completely in love with his classmate Aiki Hirose. The problem is that Nakamura has never said a single word to Hirose. Every time he tries to approach his crush, something goes wrong in spectacular fashion.
The show is full of moments where Nakamura imagines a cool, smooth interaction with Hirose, but reality turns out completely different. One time he tried to pick up a dropped handkerchief for Hirose. He ended up stomping on it so hard that everyone saw the shoe print. Another time he tried to save a cockroach to show how brave and kind he is. The roach crawled into his shirt, and Hirose had to save him instead.
The anime is set in a school that looks like the 1960s or 1970s. The art style reminds many viewers of classic Rumiko Takahashi shows. Animation studio Drive is producing the series. The official website for the anime is nakamura-kun.love.
Controversy Around Earlier Episodes
Episode 5 of Go For It, Nakamura-kun!! caused some discussion among viewers. In that episode, the character Aiki Hirose exchanges contact information with his teacher Sล Otogiri. The scene made some fans uncomfortable because it showed a student and teacher sharing personal details.
The manga creator, Syundei, released a statement to address the situation. Syundei made it clear that the scene had no deeper meaning and was only included as a common storytelling style in Boys Love (BL) manga.
โThis is intended solely as a stylistic expression of BL and carries no deeper meaning,โ Syundei said. โNeither I, the creator, nor the animation production team endorses teachers and students exchanging personal contact information.โ
Syundei also asked the production team to avoid any scenes that sexually exploit female students or characters. The creator requested that certain obscene scenes from the manga be changed to be suitable for all audiences.
Syundei also announced that future works will not include adult-minor relationships like teacher-student pairings. The creator cited recent crimes against minors as the reason for this decision.
โWhile I, as the series creator, have previously published several BL works featuring pairings with significant age gaps or adult-minor relationships such as teacher-student pairings, in light of the recent surge in horrific crimes committed by adults against minors, I will no longer use such themes in future works.โ
The controversy led to Syundei receiving harassment online. The creator eventually left X (formerly Twitter) after dealing with complaints about their art. In their final post, Syundei asked, โIs it OK if I delete my account?โ and explained that they do not have the talent to make everyone happy. As of now, Syundei has not returned to the platform.

Episode 11 Will Continue Nakamura’s Struggle
There are no official plot details for Episode 11 yet. The episode title has not been released by the production team. Based on the manga, fans expect Nakamura to continue his awkward attempts to get closer to Hirose. The show has followed the original manga by Syundei fairly closely, though some scenes have been adjusted for television.
Previous episodes have shown Nakamura trying everything from cooking class disasters to ghost hunting to get Hirose’s attention. Nothing has worked so far. But Nakamura keeps trying, and that is what makes the show enjoyable to watch.
