Hulu’s new workplace comedy Not Suitable for Work arrives on June 2, bringing together a group of young actors and comedy veterans. The show follows five twenty-something friends trying to build their careers in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood while figuring out life and love.
The series comes from Mindy Kaling, who also created Never Have I Ever and The Sex Lives of College Girls. Charlie Grandy serves as showrunner. If the cast looks familiar, here is where you have seen these actors before.
Ella Hunt Plays AJ Pascarelli
Ella Hunt takes on the role of AJ Pascarelli, a first-year analyst at an investment bank. AJ is ambitious and competitive, trying to prove herself in a tough workplace.
Hunt is a British actor who recently appeared in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga. She is also a musician releasing her first album Blindspot on June 5. Fans of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson will remember her as Sue Gilbert, the love interest of Hailee Steinfeld’s Emily Dickinson.
Avantika Stars As Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri
Avantika plays Abby, AJ’s best friend and roommate who works as an assistant to a demanding celebrity stylist played by Constance Wu. Abby falls hard for a client and learns that mixing work with romance brings problems.
At just 21 years old, Avantika already has more than 20 film and TV credits. She played Karen Shetty in the 2024 movie musical Mean Girls and starred in Spin for Disney Channel. Fans also know her from the comedy Pretty Lethal.
Will Angus Takes On Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III
Will Angus plays Davis, a high-energy finance worker who gets pepper sprayed by AJ early on but still thinks she might be the woman of his dreams. His character’s full name is Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III.
Angus comes from the world of sketch comedy with Almost Friday Media. This marks his biggest TV role after building an audience online with funny short videos.
Nicholas Duvernay Plays Kel Washington
Nicholas Duvernay stars as Kel Washington, a medical student who also wants to become an actor. He lives with Davis and Josh and has a crush on Abby.
Duvernay appeared in The White Lotus Season 3 as Zion Lindsey, the son of Natasha Rothwell’s character Belinda. He also played Drew in Bel-Air, the Fresh Prince reboot. Other credits include the Netflix movie Purple Hearts.

Jay Ellis plays Bill Gibson, AJ’s intimidating boss at the investment bank. His character talks about “dead weight” and expects total sacrifice for work.
Ellis worked with Mindy Kaling before on the Netflix series Running Point. He is best known for playing Lawrence Walker on HBO’s Insecure. He also appeared in Top Gun: Maverick.
Constance Wu Brings Tough Love As Vanessa Hsu
Constance Wu plays Vanessa Hsu, a celebrity stylist who runs a tight ship and pushes Abby hard. Wu is famous for playing Rachel Chu in Crazy Rich Asians and Jessica Huang on Fresh Off the Boat. She also starred in Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez.
Victor Garber Commands The Screen As Wes Dryden
Victor Garber plays Wes Dryden, an investigative journalist and host of the show where Josh works. Garber has more than 150 film and TV credits to his name. Audiences know him as Thomas Andrews from Titanic and Professor Callahan from Legally Blonde. He also played Jack Bristow on Alias.
Laura Bell Bundy And Victor Garber Share A Legally Blonde Connection
Laura Bell Bundy joins the cast as Amy Pascarelli, AJ’s mother. Bundy earned a Tony nomination for playing Elle Woods in the Broadway musical version of Legally Blonde. Victor Garber played Professor Callahan in the 2001 movie. The two stars now appear together in this Hulu series.
Bundy has also appeared in How I Met Your Mother, Scream Queens, and Anger Management.
Ego Nwodim Jumps From SNL To Scripted Comedy
Ego Nwodim plays Kate Woodson, who gives Kel a job at a private school. She spent seven seasons on Saturday Night Live and recently voiced a character in Pixar’s Hoppers. This role marks her first major scripted TV part since leaving SNL.
Harry Richardson Plays The Dreamy Austin Blanchett
Harry Richardson stars as Austin Blanchett, the celebrity client that Abby falls for. The Australian actor appeared in Dunkirk, Poldark, Doctor Thorne, and The Gilded Age.

The series also features Greg Germann as Josh’s powerful father, Judy Gold as a longtime producer, May Hong as an associate at the investment bank, Bhavesh Patel as a VP, Emilia Suárez as an intern, and Michael Benjamin Washington as a landlord who wants to dance. Sydney Cole Alexander, known for playing Natalie on Severance, appears as Kel’s sister.
Not Suitable for Work premieres with three episodes on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally. New episodes will come out weekly after the debut.
