Netflix dropped its new romantic comedy Office Romance on June 5, 2026, and viewers are already talking about the wild ending. The movie stars Jennifer Lopez as Jackie Cruz, the CEO of airline company AirCruz, and Brett Goldstein as Daniel Blanchflower, the awkward but brilliant British lawyer who joins her team. There is just one big problem. AirCruz has a strict rule against employees dating each other. The movie follows Jackie and Daniel as they try to keep their relationship secret while dealing with a lawsuit from a rival airline called Falcon Airlines. Things get messy when a private investigator catches them on camera. Here is everything that happened in the finale and whether the couple gets their happy ending.
How Jackie and Danielโs Secret Romance Begins
The trouble starts when AirCruzโs senior lawyer, Peter Vance (Bradley Whitford), chokes on a breakfast burrito and cannot work anymore. Daniel gets brought in to handle an important lawsuit against Falcon Airlines. The first time he meets Jackie, he gets so nervous that he cannot speak properly. He stumbles through a compliment about her shoes. Then something even more awkward happens. When they shake hands, Daniel gets visibly aroused. He runs away in shame, but Jackie does not get offended. Instead, she offers him a bigger role in the legal department.
Jackie and Daniel try to stay professional, but their attraction keeps growing. They go on a business trip to the Dominican Republic together. One night of drinking and dancing turns into a kiss, which turns into a much more intimate evening. After returning to New Jersey, they continue seeing each other in secret. They sneak around the AirCruz offices, the elevators, and even the company jet.
The main problem is that Jackie runs the company with strict rules. She has a zero-tolerance policy against office relationships. The board members are always looking for excuses to remove her because she is a woman and the founderโs daughter. They think she only got the job because of her father. If they find out she is dating an employee, she could lose everything.
Why Jackie and Daniel Break Up Midway
The relationship hits a breaking point when Jackie notices that Daniel keeps hiding parts of his life. He mentions needing to handle personal matters but never explains what those are. Jackie follows him one day and discovers that he visits his sister Lizzy (Jodie Whittaker) in prison. Lizzy is serving time for a violent crime. Daniel moved to the United States just to stay close to her.
Jackie feels hurt that Daniel kept such an important secret from her. Daniel feels angry that she followed him without permission. The argument gets worse when Jackie makes a mistake during a press conference. The pressure from work and the lack of trust in their relationship become too much. They decide to break up.
The Blackmail Plan That Forces Jackie to Quit
Things go from bad to worse when William Butten (Roger Bart), the head of Falcon Airlines, reveals that he hired a private investigator named Julie Shatz (Amy Sedaris) to follow Jackie for months. Julie pretended to be a hotel housekeeper during the Dominican Republic trip. She took photos of Jackie and Daniel kissing and being intimate. Bill shows Jackie the pictures and tells her that she has two choices. She can either give up the airport gates in Dallas that Falcon Airlines wants, or he will release the photos and destroy her reputation.
Jackie realizes she cannot win this fight. If the photos come out, the board will fire her anyway. She decides to resign as CEO of AirCruz. She believes this is the only way to protect the company she helped build. Daniel also resigns from his position and accepts a job at another firm. The two former lovers go their separate ways.
The Big Rescue at the Press Conference
Jackie schedules a press conference to announce her resignation. Her best friend Sydney (Betty Gilpin), who just gave birth in the AirCruz headquarters earlier in the movie, realizes that Jackie is making a mistake. Sydney calls Daniel and begs him to come stop Jackie.
Daniel gets stuck in the Holland Tunnel traffic but eventually makes it to the conference just in time. He walks on stage and admits everything in front of the cameras and the board members. He says that he and Jackie slept together. He makes it clear that now everyone knows the truth, so Falcon Airlines cannot use the photos as blackmail anymore. He adds that both of them violated the company policy, but they tried their best not to fall for each other. In the end, they simply could not help it.
Jackieโs father, Captain Jack (Edward James Olmos), also stands up to support her. He reveals that Jackie was the real brains behind AirCruzโs success. She came up with the idea to expand the business and saved the company when it was about to fail. He says that if she resigns, he will leave the company too.

Do Jackie and Daniel Stay Together in the End?
Jackie decides to withdraw her resignation right there at the press conference. She announces that AirCruz will move forward with its expansion in Dallas. The board cannot stop her because the public is now on her side. She also changes the company policy against office relationships.
Jackie and Daniel get back together after the press conference. The movie ends with the couple planning their wedding. There is a post-credit scene that shows them talking about marriage. The finale confirms that love wins, but only after both characters risk their careers and reputations to be honest about their feelings.
The film is now streaming globally on Netflix. Viewers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India can watch the full movie. Office Romance runs for 118 minutes and carries an R-rating for mature content.
