Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fans, get ready. The official trailer for Season 4 just landed, and it is packed with some major surprises. The season premieres on Paramount+ on July 23, 2026, and the new footage has given us a lot to talk about. The trailer revealed a massive spoiler regarding the growing bond between Spock (Ethan Peck) and James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley), which is a key part of the season.
The show has always been a prequel to the original series, so we knew Kirk and Spock’s legendary friendship was going to develop eventually. But Season 4 is diving right into it. The trailer shows Spock telling Kirk, “I have many things I want to talk about. Hopes, dreams, fears. I believe you are here so I can share them with you.” This is a huge moment for Spock, showing his human side more than ever before. He is opening up in a way we haven’t seen, and it seems Kirk is the one he trusts with his feelings.
Kirk’s response at the end of the trailer is the perfect tease for fans of the original series. He tells Spock, “Don’t worry, Spock: I’m sure one day you’ll get to aim that logical mind of yours at some lucky captain.” It’s a clever nod to the future, hinting that Kirk knows he will be that “lucky captain” one day. The trailer also shows Kirk taking on a more active role, telling Spock, “Let’s save this ship and our friends.” He is stepping up, slowly becoming the leader we know he will be.
Dinosaurs, Dragons, and a Western Theme
The trailer isn’t just about character moments, though. It also previews a very unexpected set of challenges for the crew. The Enterprise is going to be facing some creatures that look straight out of a fantasy novel. Rebecca Romijn, who plays Number One, confirmed the exciting news by saying, “There’s dinosaurs.” The trailer backs this up with shots of a T-Rex-like creature and La’an firing a phaser into the mouth of a dinosaur.
If that wasn’t enough, we also see a giant winged dragon breathing fire at the Enterprise. It’s unclear if this is an alien species, a dimensional anomaly, or something else entirely. But it promises a very unique episode. The trailer also shows the crew on horseback, suggesting a Western-themed episode might be in the works. It looks like Season 4 is going to be a wild ride through different genres.

What the Cast and Crew Are Saying
The cast and creators are clearly excited about what’s coming. Paul Wesley shared a bit of insight into Kirk’s storyline, saying, “We explore a little about Kirk’s past and the demons that are haunting him.” This suggests we will get a deeper look into what makes Kirk tick before he becomes the confident captain of the Enterprise.
Co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman described the season by saying, “Season 4 is what I would call very pure Strange New Worlds. We move around in terms of tone, we move around in terms of genre, and then we drive it to the last six episodes, which is pretty singular.” He also noted that the fifth and final season, which has already wrapped production, will consist of just six episodes. Rebecca Romijn also praised the new season, calling it “our best season yet.”
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 will have 10 episodes, premiering weekly every Thursday until the finale on September 24, 2026. The entire cast, including Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, and Jess Bush, will be returning. With the stage set for Kirk and Spock’s friendship and a slew of new adventures, this season is shaping up to be a memorable one for fans.
