Television actor Harshad Chopda made a shocking personal revelation during the premiere episode of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2, confessing that his girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend in 2010. The actor, who has spent over 20 years in the industry while keeping his private life largely away from public view, opened up about the heartbreaking betrayal that changed his outlook on relationships and trust.
The revelation came during a mandatory confession round on the Netflix reality show, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. When asked why he remains so private despite his massive popularity, Harshad shared a secret he had kept buried for 16 years.
Harshad Chopda Opens Up About a Secret He Kept Hidden for 16 Years
During the premiere episode, Harshad drew the ‘Expose’ card during a task, which required him to reveal a personal truth. Fellow contestant Shivangi Joshi, who shares a cell with him, offered to reveal one of her own secrets instead, but Harshad chose to speak for himself.
“My fans complained that no one knows anything about me, but I was not always like this. When I came into the industry, I was socially active. I lost my friend and my girlfriend at the same time in 2010. My girlfriend cheated on me with my best friend, and from then on, I have grown a little wary,” he said.
The actor explained how the experience fundamentally changed him as a person. “Nobody knows about this. It has been 16 years. Emotionally, I am very needy. I happen to depend on people quickly, so even if I lose my best friend, it would be a big deal for me. But losing both of them at the same time was what pushed me into my shell. Staying reclusive, I feel protected. I am scared of coming out of that zone now,” he added.
The television star, known for his hit shows including Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Bepannah, and Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, had never publicly discussed this painful chapter before. His confession left the set in complete silence, with fellow contestants visibly moved by his honesty.

As Harshad struggled to maintain his composure, Shivangi Joshi stepped in to comfort him, making it one of the most emotional moments of the premiere. The support extended from other contestants as well, with Sufi Motiwala saying, “We love you!”
Riteish Deshmukh praised the actor for his courage, describing the confession as an act of bravery. Farah Khan also offered words of encouragement, telling Harshad that sharing the burden could help him heal. “You have taken the first step towards redemption and we are very proud of you,” she said.
The moment highlighted the growing bond between Harshad and Shivangi, who previously worked together on the Sony TV romantic drama Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 4. Their on-screen pairing, popularly known as “RiShree” by fans, made their cellmate dynamic one of the early highlights of the season.
Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2 premiered on Netflix on June 27 and features 15 contestants, including Sunita Ahuja, Ram Kapoor, Akanksha Choudhary, Yogesh Rawat, Riyaz Ali, Dheeraj Dhoopar, and others. The show drops new episodes from Saturday to Wednesday at 8 PM IST.
