Netflix’s hit supernatural series Wednesday is bringing in a star-studded lineup of new faces for its third season. The show, which follows the dark adventures of the iconic Addams Family daughter, has added several big names to its cast as production continues in Ireland.
The third season is currently being filmed near Dublin, with production having started in February 2026. While fans will have to wait until 2027 to see the new episodes, the growing cast list is already creating plenty of excitement.
New Cast Members Joining Wednesday Season 3
The biggest news comes with the addition of three well-known actors in guest roles. Lena Headey, famous for playing Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, has joined the cast. Alongside her are Andrew McCarthy, known for St. Elmo’s Fire, and James Lance from Ted Lasso. All three will appear as guest stars in the upcoming season, though details about their characters are being kept secret for now.
These three join an already impressive list of new cast members previously announced for the season.
Eva Green, who starred in Casino Royale and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, will play Ophelia Frump. Ophelia is Morticia Addams’ younger sister and Wednesday’s aunt, a character who was teased at the end of Season 2.
Winona Ryder is also joining the show, marking another reunion with director Tim Burton. She will play a character named Tabitha. Ryder is no stranger to Burton’s world, having starred in Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.
Other new additions include:
- Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride) as Balthazar
- Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders) as Cyrus
- Oscar Morgan as Atticus
- Kennedy Moyer as Daisy
There is also a recent addition of Oliver Cunliffe, a rising British actor known for the series Silverpoint, who has joined in a recurring role.
“This season, we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Don’t say you weren’t warned.”
Returning Cast Members
Jenna Ortega will once again lead the series as Wednesday Addams. She will be joined by the rest of the main cast.
Catherine Zeta-Jones returns as Morticia Addams, and Luis Guzmรกn is back as Gomez Addams. Emma Myers will reprise her role as Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s werewolf roommate.
Fred Armisen is also returning as Uncle Fester. One notable change is that Joanna Lumley, who plays Grandmama Hester Frump, has been promoted to a series regular.
Other returning cast members include Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), and Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus).
However, Noah B. Taylor, who played Enid’s love interest Bruno in Season 2, will not be returning.
Production and Filming Locations
Filming for Wednesday Season 3 began on February 16, 2026, in Ireland. The production is based near Dublin, with additional filming taking place in other parts of Ireland.
The show has also added Paris, France as a production location. A first-look photo released by Netflix shows Jenna Ortega’s character standing in front of the Eiffel Tower with the caption “From Paris, with dread”. This suggests that Wednesday’s adventure will take her beyond Nevermore Academy and across the Atlantic.
What to Expect from Season 3
The third season will pick up after the events of Season 2. Wednesday was last seen riding off with Uncle Fester to rescue her best friend Enid, who had transformed into a full-fledged Alpha werewolf. The search for Enid will likely be a major part of the new season’s story.
The introduction of Aunt Ophelia, played by Eva Green, is set to bring new family drama. Ophelia is Morticia’s sister and reportedly wants Wednesday dead. This adds a dangerous new threat for the young psychic to face.
Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar have teased that the season will explore long-buried Addams Family secrets. The show’s creator Tim Burton expressed his excitement about the new season and the cast additions.
“I’m so excited to be back for Season 3, and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine โ Winona, Eva, Chris, and Noah โ makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky.”
When Will Wednesday Season 3 Release?
Netflix has not announced an official release date for Wednesday Season 3. However, the show is not part of Netflix’s 2026 lineup, confirming that fans will have to wait until 2027.

Industry reports suggest a summer or fall 2027 release window. The extensive post-production work required for the show’s visual effects means the wait will be longer than some might hope. With filming expected to continue through much of 2026, a 2027 premiere is the most realistic timeline.
