The summer anime season continues to bring fresh stories, and Draw This, Then Die! has quickly become one of the most talked-about new series. The show follows a young manga lover on a creative journey, and viewers are now counting down the days until Episode 4 arrives.

What Happened in Previous Episodes
Episode 1 – “Magic House ~ What Would a Manga Protagonist Do Here?”
The story begins with Ai Yasumi, a first-year high school student living on the remote island of Izu Oshima. She loves manga more than anything, especially the series “Robota and Pokota” by her favorite creator, Hoshino Zero.
One day, her teacher Rei Teshima catches her reading manga during class and takes it away. Teshima dismisses manga as a waste of time. But Ai later learns that her favorite manga creator will appear at a convention in Tokyo, so she travels from her island home to meet her idol. This trip pushes her from simply reading stories to wanting to create her own.
Episode 2 – Ai’s First Attempt at Drawing
In Episode 2, Ai draws manga for the first time. She wants to convince Teshima-sensei to become the advisor for the manga club. The episode shows Ai taking her first steps as a creator, learning just how hard it is to put a story on paper.
Ai’s classmates start to get involved. Sachi Akafuku helps her set up the manga research club. Kokoro Fujimori, a talented art club member, also joins. Another first-year student, Hikaru Sekiryu, who is already a skilled amateur manga artist, moves to Izu Oshima and becomes part of the group.
Episode 3 – “There’s Such a Thing as Too Much Passion”
Episode 3 gives viewers a deeper look at Rei Teshima’s backstory. The episode shows her failed attempts to become a professional mangaka. She couldn’t get her works published, and every time an editor tried to give her advice, she struggled to accept criticism.
Teshima then tried selling her doujinshi at Comitia, but that didn’t work out either. Her parents were supportive at first but eventually ran out of patience. One night, she overheard them expressing disappointment in her.
She decided to put everything she had into one last work before giving up. That final manga earned an honorable mention, which broke her spirit. But that same manga now inspires Ai, showing how art can connect people across different times and situations.
Meanwhile, Ai keeps trying to recruit a third member for her club. She uses her own manga to attract interest, but the results are mostly laughter and confusion. The episode also properly introduces Kokoro, who deals with a stressful home life and feels like she is drowning.

Tatsuya Kitani performs the opening theme song “Isho,” and Regal Lily performs the ending theme song “Conifer”. The music comes from Hiroaki Tsutsumi (MIRACLE BUS).
