What Happened in Episode 4
Episode 4, titled “Bumping into Arata at the Terrifying Kaiju Festival,” aired on July 24. The episode took place at a loud metal music festival. Kuroe Akaishi went to the festival with Kotaro Hibino. Kotaro is a scientist who knows about Kuroe’s condition and is connected to her mother Rinko Akaishi.
At the festival, Kuroe unexpectedly ran into Arata Minami, who was working a part-time job there. Kotaro was wary of Arata. To make matters worse, Kotaro introduced himself as Kuroe’s boyfriend, which confused Arata. Arata felt increasingly frustrated seeing Kuroe having so much fun with Kotaro.
The episode also showed Rinko’s complicated past with Kotaro. Rinko reluctantly caught up with Kotaro, whom she used to have a working relationship with. In the back of Rinko’s mind, Kotaro represents a potential threat to the peaceful life she has built for herself with her kaiju daughter. Rinko decided to tag along to the festival to keep an eye on things.
Episode 4 ended with Arata seeing how comfortable Kuroe was with Kotaro, not realizing that she sees Kotaro as family.
What to Expect in Episode 5
Episode 5 is titled “Kuroe Targeted by Gyaru Influencer Rairi”. The new school term begins for their second year of high school. To prevent Arata from becoming a laughingstock, Kuroe tries to act like a stranger to him at school. Although she musters the courage to take a step forward, she immediately catches the attention of Raimu Kono, a gyaru influencer known as Rairi.
The episode will explore how Kuroe balances her feelings for Arata while trying to keep her condition a secret. The introduction of Rairi, a new character, is likely to create more complications for Kuroe.

The anime is produced by animation studio LIDEN FILMS. Teruyuki Omine serves as the director. Yuniko Ayana handles the series scripts, and Mitomi Nakayama is the character designer. GOOD SMILE FILM is producing the series.

Kaiju Girl Caramelise (Japanese: 乙女怪獣キャラメリゼ) is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Spica Aoki. The manga began serialization in Monthly Comic Alive in February 2018.
