The wait for Gotham’s noir protector is finally over. Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 has officially arrived on Prime Video, bringing with it a darker tone, new villains, and the long-awaited debut of the Joker.
All 10 episodes of the second season are now streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series, which first premiered in August 2024, returns after a two-year gap with a more intense and action-heavy approach.
New Villains Take Over Gotham
Season 2 introduces a formidable lineup of Batman’s most famous adversaries. The show brings in new versions of Edward Nygma (the Riddler), Scarecrow, and Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter appears as a gender-swapped version of the character, following the creative approach taken with Minnie Driver’s Penguin in the first season.
The Riddler, voiced by Ronan Raftery, takes on a prominent role as a major power player in Gotham’s criminal underworld. The trailer released in June 2026 heavily featured the Riddler, showing him in a green three-piece suit and bowler hat similar to his classic animated series appearance.
Roxy Rocket also makes her debut in Season 2. The character was originally created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for The New Batman Adventures. Wunmi Mosaku voices this daring antagonist.
The Joker Finally Arrives
The biggest news surrounding Season 2 is the arrival of the Joker. Matthew Needham, known for his role as Larys Strong in House of the Dragon, voices the Clown Prince of Crime. The casting was officially announced during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23, 2026.
The panel featured a world premiere screening of the first episode from Season 2. Executive producers James Tucker and Geoffrey Thorne joined voice cast members Hamish Linklater, Jamie Chung, and Needham for a discussion about the new season.
Needham’s Joker is described as menacing and powerful, more than a match for Batman. The season builds toward a confrontation between Batman and this deadly version of the Joker.
Carrie Kelley Becomes DC’s First Female Robin
Season 2 introduces Carrie Kelley, DC Comics’ first female Robin. The character was created by Frank Miller for the seminal graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. Carrie Kelley appears in a Grey Ghost-inspired outfit, marking a significant addition to the show’s roster.

Hamish Linklater returns as Bruce Wayne and Batman. The voice cast also includes:

Creative Team Returns
The creative team behind the first season is back for Season 2. Executive producers include Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves. James Tucker and Geoffrey Thorne also serve as executive producers.
The series comes from Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho.
Executive producer James Tucker described the second season as “darker, a little more action-heavy” while leaning into film noir influences, horror, and action. Geoffrey Thorne, executive producer and head writer for Season 2, said the season is “an escalation” from the first.
The show is set in a 1940s-inspired Gotham City and follows Bruce Wayne in his early years as a vigilante. Season 2 shows Batman at the “year one-and-a-half” phase of his career, more polished than in the first season but still facing overwhelming odds.

Season 2 picks up after the events of the first season, with Batman continuing his fight against crime in a city overrun with corruption. The season moves forward from the Harvey Dent-focused storyline of Season 1.
