After months of waiting, Ajith Kumar has finally revealed the title of his next movie. The actor, who has been busy with his racing career, surprised everyone by announcing his 64th film. The movie is now officially called Dare Devil.
The announcement came on August 3, 2026, which also marked 34 years of Ajith Kumar in the film industry. Director Adhik Ravichandran shared the news on social media along with the first poster. The poster shows the words “Dare” and “Devil” written on a pair of dice in red and white colors.
The film brings back the successful team from Good Bad Ugly, which was a big hit in 2025. Adhik Ravichandran, who directed Good Bad Ugly, will also direct this movie. The biggest surprise is that Ajith’s wife Shalini Ajith Kumar will produce the film under her new production company called Bravehearts Production.
Shalini Ajith Kumar Makes Her Debut as a Producer
This marks a major change for Shalini Ajith Kumar, who was a popular actress in Tamil and Malayalam cinema during the late 1990s and early 2000s. She starred in films like Alaipayuthey and Aniyathipravu before she married Ajith in 2000 and stepped away from acting.
Now, after more than two decades, she is returning to the film industry in a new role. Dare Devil will be her first movie as a producer. This also makes it the first professional collaboration between the couple. Reports about Shalini producing Ajith’s next film had been circulating for weeks, but this announcement serves as the first official confirmation.
Director Adhik Ravichandran shared his excitement about the project and thanked both Ajith and Shalini for their trust.
“34 years of breaking barriers, inspiring millions, and redefining stardom. A journey built on passion, perseverance, and unmatched charisma. Dare Devil is here. This is going to be very special. Thank you my sir, Ajith Kumar sir, for the trust and support. Thank you producer Shalini mam.”
Anirudh Ravichander Returns as Music Composer
The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander, who has worked with Ajith Kumar several times before. This will be their fourth collaboration after Vedalam, Vivegam, and Vidaamuyarchi. Anirudh also composed the music for Good Bad Ugly, so the team is sticking with a winning combination.
The technical crew also includes Abinandhan Ramanujam as cinematographer, Vijay Velukutty as editor, Supreme Sundar as stunt choreographer, and Suren as sound designer. Suren recently received a Special Mention for Sound Mixing at the 72nd National Film Awards for his work on Meiyazhagan (2024).
Fans Have Mixed Reactions to the Poster
The announcement created a lot of buzz on social media, but not all fans were happy with the first poster. Many celebrated the title and the return of the Ajith-Adhik team, while others felt the poster could have been better.
One excited fan wrote,
“This is our home production. We need to make sure it breaks all box office records.”
However, some fans expressed disappointment. One comment said,
“Good title but worst poster update. Could have been far better to update with an appealing poster.”
Another fan pointed out,
“No changes in the technical team except Anirudh disappointed. At least you would have changed that editor.”
Ajith Kumar’s Racing Career and Recent Films
Ajith Kumar has been focusing heavily on his racing career since 2024. He launched his own racing team called Ajith Kumar Racing and has been competing in endurance races. He has faced at least six reported accidents but has continued racing.
He had two movie releases in 2025 – Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly. Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, collected ₹135.89 crore worldwide. Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, performed much better with ₹248.25 crore worldwide.
Despite the success of Good Bad Ugly, Ajith did not sign any new films for a while. This led to questions about his future in cinema. Financier and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam had said in May that Ajith’s salary demands were high and that he was already well-settled with his racing and advertising income.
Documentary on Ajith’s Racing Journey Also Announced
Along with the film announcement, the makers also revealed the first look of a documentary about Ajith’s racing career. The documentary is titled Gladiators: In Pursuit of Challenges.
The documentary is directed by Vijay, who is known for films like Deivathirumagal and Madrasapattinam. It is produced by Shalini Ajith Kumar under the Golden Trophy Film Production banner. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, who also composed for Good Bad Ugly.
The documentary will get a theatrical release. It features exclusive footage from races Ajith participated in across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Europe. The documentary also shows how Ajith pursued his dream of competing professionally in racing circuits both in India and internationally.
Ajith has been racing alongside former Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan in the Le Mans series of endurance races. His team finished third in the 991 category at the 24H Dubai event and also secured a third-place finish at the 12H Mugello race in Italy. They later got a second-place finish at the Spa Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium.

What We Know About Dare Devil So Far
The makers have not yet announced the cast, storyline, or release date for Dare Devil. However, the poster showing dice suggests the film might revolve around gambling. Director Adhik Ravichandran had earlier said that this film would be different from Good Bad Ugly. He described it as an action entertainer with a stronger narrative that would appeal to family audiences.
Pre-production work has already been completed, and filming is expected to begin soon after the official launch. The director had confirmed in mid-July that the screenplay had been locked and location scouting was finished.
This is Ajith’s return to the big screen after taking a year-long break from films to focus on motorsport. With both Dare Devil and the Gladiators documentary now officially announced, fans have two exciting projects to look forward to from the actor.
