Lock Upp season 2 has crowned its winner, but former contestant Varun Yadav is not happy with the result. He strongly believes that neither of the top two finalists deserved to win the show.

The Netflix reality show ended its second season with a grand finale on August 5. Shreya Kalra lifted the trophy and took home Rs 1 crore prize money. Shivangi Joshi finished as the first runner-up. But Varun Yadav, who got eliminated just before the finale, shared his honest opinion in an interview. He said he should have been the winner instead.

Varun Yadav Calls Himself The Real Winner

When asked who among Shreya Kalra and Shivangi Joshi deserved to win, Varun did not hold back. He replied in Hindi, “Neither of them deserves to win; I do”. He explained that reality shows have become all about fighting, arguing, backbiting and making personal comments. He said that is not what the show should be about.

Varun pointed out that people of all ages watch these shows. He said contestants should focus on entertaining the audience while keeping things clean. He added that talking about someone’s personal life or making below-the-belt remarks is not acceptable.

Varun Criticises Shreya Kalra’s Behaviour

Varun strongly expressed that Shreya Kalra should not win the show. He said, “Shreya toh mujhe lagta hi nahi ki jeetni chahiye. Aise bande ko aap bana rahe ho jisko aage log dekhenge aur yeh cheezein seekhenge?”. He was questioning if the show wants to make someone like that a role model for young viewers.

He also criticised the use of bad language on the show. He mentioned that using words like ‘f**k you’ towards elders and behaving disrespectfully is not something people should learn from a big platform like Lock Upp. He said he was disappointed with what reality shows have become.

Varun Also Calls Out Other Contestants

Varun did not stop at criticising the top two finalists. He also spoke about Akanksha Chamola’s remark about Gaurav Khanna. He said that saying things like “Even my dog coming instead of him would have been better” is hurtful. He reminded that everyone is a human being and such comments can hurt people’s feelings.

He also mentioned an incident where Pamela Serena revealed a personal secret about him. He said Shreya joined in and supported Pamela. Varun felt that was unfair and showed the wrong side of the game.

Varun’s Journey And Elimination

Varun Yadav, who is also known as Laila, entered Lock Upp season 2 as a content creator. He made it quite far in the competition but got eliminated in the penultimate episode. His elimination happened after Shreya Kalra lost a task to Shivangi Joshi.

The final spot came down to Yogesh Rawat and Varun. Shivangi managed to save Yogesh before Shreya could rescue Varun. This gave Yogesh the fifth and final place in the grand finale.

After his eviction, Varun shared an emotional video. He revealed that his grandfather passed away while he was inside the Lock Upp house. He also hinted at doing “something big” after the show.

Shreya Kalra Wins Lock Upp Season 2

The grand finale took place on August 5, 2026. The top five finalists were Shreya Kalra, Shivangi Joshi, Yogesh Rawat, Ram Kapoor and Shilpa Shinde.

Ram Kapoor got evicted in fifth place after losing a puzzle task. Shilpa Shinde followed in fourth place after being manipulated into picking the wrong box. The top three then faced a jury of media professionals and actors.

The jury questioned Yogesh Rawat about his arrogance. They confronted Shivangi Joshi about allegedly manipulating Harshad Chopda to get his finalist spot. Shreya Kalra was praised for her gameplay but also called out for her harsh language and inappropriate remarks.

Based on votes from ex-contestants, the jury and the jailers, Shreya Kalra was announced as the winner. She secured 23 votes compared to Shivangi’s 16 votes. Yogesh Rawat finished as the second runner-up.

Harshad Chopda’s Sacrifice And Exit

Before the finale, Harshad Chopda made a big decision. He gave up his place in the finale to save Shivangi Joshi. This move made Shivangi the first finalist of the show. After exiting the show, Harshad clarified that he and Shivangi are not dating. He said they are just good friends.
