Japanese publisher Shueisha has introduced a new global digital manga service called MANGA MILLION, marking the company’s 100th anniversary with one of the largest translation initiatives in publishing history. The platform offers approximately 400 manga titles translated into over 100 languages, with one million pages available for free to readers worldwide.
The service requires no registration and is available for a limited time, with reports indicating it will operate until at least December 2027. Shueisha confirmed that professional translators handled all the work, with no AI translation used for the project.
Platform Launch and Availability
MANGA MILLION went live on August 6, 2026, just ahead of Shueisha’s official 100th anniversary on August 8. The platform is accessible worldwide through its official website, though only a limited selection of content is available to users in Japan.
The platform supports a wide range of languages including English, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, Turkish, Tagalog, Korean, Polish, and many others. For flagship series ONE PIECE, the manga is available in 107 languages, with plans to expand to 96 languages for near-simultaneous chapter releases starting in mid-August.
Shueisha President and Representative Director Hideaki Hayashi commented on the launch:

Extensive Manga Lineup
The platform’s catalog features a mix of shonen, shojo, seinen, and josei manga, covering multiple genres and demographics.
Major Shonen and Seinen Titles
The lineup includes globally recognized series such as ONE PIECE, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kingdom, [Oshi No Ko], SPY×FAMILY, and Chainsaw Man.
Shojo and Josei Manga
More than 150 titles in the catalog are shojo manga, including beloved series like Nana and Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You. This extensive selection marks one of the largest collections of shojo manga ever made available simultaneously through an international digital platform.
First-Time Translations
Nearly 300 titles are receiving their first-ever official English translations through this platform. Additionally, approximately 30 titles that previously did not receive simultaneous English releases on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform will now be available in English for the first time.
Shuhei Hosono, Editor-in-Chief of MANGA Plus by Shueisha and initiator of the MANGA MILLION project, explained the vision behind the initiative:
“The project began with a simple question: what if we marked Shueisha’s 100th anniversary by translating one million pages of manga into 100 languages? As we developed the concept, we also saw it as a way to address the language barriers that still prevent many readers around the world from accessing manga. We hope that MANGA MILLION, an unprecedented translation initiative spanning 100 languages and one million pages, will spark new discoveries and connections between readers and Japanese manga.”
Translation Quality and Professional Standards
Shueisha has emphasized that all translations were completed by professional translators, not AI systems. The company stated its commitment to faithfully capturing the essence of each work and the characters’ dialogue, ensuring official translation quality.
International licensing partners from around the world provided support for this translation effort, making MANGA MILLION one of the largest initiatives in Shueisha’s history.
Near-Simultaneous Chapter Releases
Starting in mid-August 2026, Shueisha will begin near-simultaneous distribution of the latest chapters from approximately 30 currently serialized works. New chapters will release about two to three weeks after their publication in Japan.
For ONE PIECE, the company plans distribution in 96 languages, including Italian, Mongolian, and Swahili. This marks a significant expansion in accessibility for fans who previously had to wait longer for official translations.
Limited Free Access Period
While the platform is currently free and requires no registration, Shueisha has not yet decided on a timeline for when free access will end. The company confirmed with ANN that no specific date has been set for transitioning to a paid model.
Japanese users have limited access to the platform, with only ONE PIECE volumes 1-12 (East Blue Arc) available in 107 languages, along with special feature articles including interviews with authors and publishers from various countries.
