SEVENTEEN members Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino are getting ready for their mandatory military service. Their agency, Pledis Entertainment, shared the official dates on August 10, 2026, through the fan platform Weverse. The announcement confirms when each member will begin their duty.
Mingyu Begins Alternative Service in September
Mingyu will start his military service on September 10, 2026. He will serve as a social service agent, which is an alternative form of service. This means he will not serve in the regular army but will complete his duty in a different capacity.
Pledis Entertainment stated that there will be no official event on the day Mingyu begins his service or when he later reports to the training center. The agency also asked fans not to visit his workplace during his alternative service.
Seungkwan and Dino Enlist Together in October
Seungkwan and Dino will enlist on October 26, 2026. They will serve together in the Korean Army’s military band. Both members will begin their service on the same day.
The agency mentioned that many other recruits and their families will be at the enlistment ceremony. They asked fans not to visit the site on that day to avoid crowding.
Members Will Continue Activities Before Service
All three members will take part in SEVENTEEN’s scheduled activities before their service begins. Pledis Entertainment confirmed that they will participate in all official events leading up to their enlistment dates.
“Once Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino begin their military service, they will be unable to participate in SEVENTEEN activities. However, they will continue to connect with CARAT through a variety of content prepared in advance.”
The agency also asked fans to send their messages of support through Weverse rather than visiting in person.
Other SEVENTEEN Members’ Military Status
This announcement comes as SEVENTEEN continues its military service period. Several other members have already enlisted or are about to begin their service.
Vernon will begin his alternative service on August 20, 2026. DK will enlist as an active-duty soldier on September 8, 2026.
Jeonghan completed his military service in June 2025 and became the first member of the group to finish his duty. Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi are currently serving.
Some members do not need to serve because of their citizenship. S.Coups received an exemption due to a knee injury. Joshua, The8, and Jun are not South Korean citizens, so they are not required to serve.
With Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino joining the service, nearly all Korean members of SEVENTEEN will have started or completed their military duty.
Pledis Entertainment Shares Official Statement
Pledis Entertainment released a full statement on Weverse explaining the enlistment plans. The agency asked for fans’ continued support throughout the members’ service period.
“We ask for your continued love and support for Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino until they complete their military service and return in good health. PLEDIS Entertainment will continue to support our artists every step of the way.”
The agency also noted that the members will stay connected with fans through pre-recorded content prepared before their enlistment.
SEVENTEEN Continues to Achieve Success
Even with members preparing for military service, SEVENTEEN continues to make achievements. The group’s best-of album “Always Yours” reached 1 million shipments in Japan as of July 2026. This earned a “million” certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
SEVENTEEN is the first K-pop artist to receive four million certifications in Japan. The group has also renewed their contracts with Pledis Entertainment for a second time.
