Antara Banerjee, known for her role in the popular TV show Kasautii Zindagii Kay, was taken into custody after an alleged violent incident on the Aravali Express.
The 31-year-old actress and model was arrested following a dispute over seating in a reserved AC coach. Police claim she attacked a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer with a razor blade. The incident happened on the night of August 12, 2026, while she was travelling from Mumbai to Surat for a shoot.
According to reports, Banerjee had a sleeper-class ticket but entered an AC coach. This led to a heated argument with passengers and railway staff. The situation quickly turned violent, leading to her arrest.
What Happened on the Aravali Express
The alleged incident took place between Borivali and Dahanu stations, lasting from approximately 9:30 PM to 10:50 PM. A passenger asked Banerjee to leave a reserved seat. When she refused, the passenger called the ticket collector, Harikesh Tripathi, who then alerted the RPF.
RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaminikant Mishra and Constable Rajesh Kumar arrived to handle the situation. Police allege that Banerjee used abusive language towards the officers and became aggressive.
The situation escalated when she reportedly took out a razor blade. According to the police complaint, she attacked ASI Mishra, causing injuries. She also allegedly injured herself during the incident.
Mishra further claimed that Banerjee damaged his uniform and mobile phone. She also allegedly tried to break the coach window to escape. RPF personnel secured the doors of the AC coach to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Arrest and Police Statement
Banerjee was deboarded at Dahanu railway station and handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP). She was taken into custody by Borivali railway police the next morning.
Borivali GRP Inspector Kunda Gavade shared details about the arrest. Eyewitnesses suggested that Banerjee may have been distressed after failing to get an AC coach ticket.
“She calmed down after the FIR was registered,” Gavade said.
When police asked if she wanted to contact relatives or seek legal help, she refused and demanded to be arrested.
Charges and Bail
An FIR was registered against Banerjee on August 13. Police booked her under several sections, including:
- Endangering safety
- Causing grievous harm to public servants
- Assault
- Intentional insult
She was served a notice and released on bail. According to GRP Senior Inspector Pandrinath Kande, she was released after being served a notice under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
