Crunchyroll expanded its digital manga library on August 10, 2026, with 16 new series now available for readers. The update brings popular titles like Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You, Bocchi the Rock!, Prison School, Tougen Anki, and Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun to the platform. The new additions come from major publishers including Kodansha USA Publishing, Shueisha, Taskey, and Yen Press.
Five of the newly added manga have anime adaptations currently streaming on Crunchyroll, making them familiar to many viewers. The manga service, which launched in the United States and Canada on October 9, 2025, now offers more than 400 series through its website and mobile apps.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Joins Crunchyroll Manga
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is one of the standout additions to the platform. The manga, written and illustrated by Jinushi, follows Sasaki, a 45-year-old office worker exhausted by his corporate job. His only escape comes from smoking behind the supermarket and talking with Yamada, a friendly cashier. What Sasaki does not know is that Yamada and the teasing Tayama are actually the same person.
The series began as a webcomic on X.com (formerly Twitter) in March 2022 before moving to Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. It won the 2022 Next Manga Award in the web category. The manga’s anime adaptation premiered on July 9, 2026, and is available on Crunchyroll. Before the official premiere, Crunchyroll released 12 mini-episodes in June 2026, splitting the first six episodes into smaller segments to build excitement.
The anime received a perfect 5-star rating on Crunchyroll before its official premiere and currently holds a 4.9 rating, which remains exceptional. The series has become one of the best-selling manga titles in July 2026. The manga is also available digitally through Square Enix’s Manga UP! app and website.

Bocchi the Rock! Returns to the Spotlight
Bocchi the Rock! also joins Crunchyroll Manga as part of the August update. Created by Aki Hamazi, the manga follows Hitori Gotoh, a socially anxious guitarist who dreams of forming a band. She unexpectedly joins Kessoku Band and navigates the challenges of performing and connecting with others.
The manga was adapted into a hit anime series in 2022, with a second season currently in development. The series had been on hiatus since January 2026 due to creator Aki Hamazi’s health issues. The manga resumed serialization in the August 2026 issue of Manga Time Kirara Max, released on June 18, 2026. The break lasted approximately six months.
All 12 episodes of the first anime season are available on Crunchyroll with subtitles and dubbing in multiple languages. The manga’s return has been welcomed by fans who have been waiting for new chapters.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun by Osamu Nishi tells the story of a human student hiding his identity while attending school in the Netherworld.
