The AMC series “Interview with the Vampire” has changed its name to “The Vampire Lestat” for its third season. The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025. The show is adapting the second book in Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, which is also called “The Vampire Lestat”.
Why the Show Changed Its Name
Showrunner Rolin Jones explained the decision to rename the series. He said it was a simple choice that followed the source material.
“All we’re doing is following Anne’s lead. That book was called this, this book is called that. It really focuses in on what this season is about.”
Jones called the new title “a no brainer” and said he wanted to do it from the beginning. He noted that fans who love the show would not be confused by the change. The first two seasons were based on Rice’s first novel, “Interview with the Vampire,” and focused on Louis de Pointe du Lac (played by Jacob Anderson) telling his story to journalist Daniel Molloy (played by Eric Bogosian). Season three shifts to Lestat’s point of view. Jones also mentioned that future seasons could follow the same pattern and be renamed after other books in the series, like “The Queen of the Damned”.
Lestat Takes Center Stage as a Rock Star
In season three, Lestat de Lioncourt (played by Sam Reid) becomes a rock star. He wants to reclaim his story after feeling misrepresented in the book published by Louis and Daniel. The season is set in the modern day and follows Lestat’s music career. Reid described the new season as “wild” and said he sometimes cannot believe they are making it. He explained that Lestat wants to express his views and experiences through music, music videos, and recordings. The show will feature original music performed by Reid.

Release Date: “The Vampire Lestat” premieres on June 7, 2026, on AMC and AMC+. The season will have seven episodes. A special preview episode will air on May 31, 2026. An after-show called “The Vampire Lestat: After Dark” will also launch on AMC+.
Returning Cast: Alongside Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson, Eric Bogosian returns as Daniel Molloy. Delainey Hayles returns as Claudia, even though her character died in season two. Assad Zaman also returns as Armand.
New Cast Members: Jennifer Ehle joins the cast as Gabriella, Lestat’s mother. Other new cast members include Ella Ballentine as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles as Christine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marius, and Damien Atkins as Magnus.
Louis’ Expanded Role: Even though Lestat is the focus, Louis will still have a significant role. Jones said the series expanded Louis’ arc from the book because they wanted to give Anderson more to do. However, he warned that Louis’ new story will be “very, very heartbreaking”.
Connection to Other Shows: “The Vampire Lestat” is part of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The other series in this universe are “Mayfair Witches” and “Talamasca,” which premieres on October 26, 2026.
