The Vvaan has released its second song, Chhathi Maiya, a devotional track that puts Chhath Puja on the big screen for the first time in Hindi cinema. The song features Tamannaah Bhatia as a woman who holds on to her faith during a crisis, while Sidharth Malhotra plays the doubting partner. The song arrived on September 10, 2026, just weeks before the film hits theatres.
What Happens In The Chhathi Maiya Song
The 3-minute-and-30-second track opens with Sidharth Malhotra’s character questioning Tamannaah’s faith as she insists on taking part in Chhath Puja. The video then shows her performing the rituals with other women by a riverbank, dressed in a traditional red saree with a long streak of vermilion in her hair. The song ends with Tamannaah’s character meeting with an accident, followed by what appears to be a miracle that brings the couple’s faith back.
The song is sung and composed by Vishal Mishra, with lyrics by Kaushal Kishore and choreography by Chinni Prakash. It has been produced by Vishal Mishra and Kandarpa Kalita, and released under the Zee Music label.
Tamannaah Bhatia Studied Chhath Rituals Before Filming
Tamannaah Bhatia did not treat the song as just another shoot. She spent time learning about the rituals of Chhath Puja and how the festival is observed in Bihar and Patna.
“I have always held a deep reverence for Chhath Puja. Before we started shooting for the song, I spent time studying and understanding the significance of the ritual and how it is performed in Bihar and Patna. Honestly, I was stunned to learn the power it holds. The strong connection I felt with Chhathi Maiyya is something I cannot put in words. I found myself feeling deeply connected to her,” Tamannaah said.
She also spoke about what it means to bring the festival to a wider audience.
“It feels surreal to be a part of The Vvaan and bring to life the pride of Bihar and Patna by celebrating Chhath for the first time on the big screen of the Indian Film Industry through the Chhathi Maiya song. It’s our humble attempt to bring the Bihari pride of India on the big screen, and all we hope is that the audience feels equally spiritual and devotional the way we felt throughout the journey,” she added.
Vishal Mishra On Bringing Bhojpuri Music To Hindi Cinema
Singer and composer Vishal Mishra called the song a personal offering. He had earlier released a Chhath special track titled Chhathi Maiya Bulaye in 2021, which crossed 17 million views.
“It is truly an honour and a blessing for me to bring the faith and sacred tradition of Chhath, deeply rooted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, to Hindi cinema for the first time. My only wish is for the beauty and fragrance of our culture to travel to every corner of the world, and receive the love and respect it truly deserves. This is a small offering from Kaushal Kishore, the entire Team Vvaan and me, dedicated to my people. ‘Chhathi Maiya’ is yours now. Jai Chhathi Maiya,” Vishal Mishra said.
He also shared his thoughts on social media, writing that Bhojpuri is not just a language but the soil, culture, traditions, folk and identity of Bihar and Purvanchal.
When Is Chhath Puja 2026
Chhath Puja will be celebrated on Sunday, November 15, 2026, according to Drik Panchang. The four-day festival, which runs from November 13 to November 16, 2026, is dedicated to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. It is widely observed in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and among communities from these regions across the world.
The Vvaan Release Date And Streaming Details
The Vvaan: Force of the Forest will release in theatres on September 25, 2026. The film is a fantasy mystery thriller directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, written by Arunabh Kumar, and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar, and Niraj Kothari. It is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11.11 Production.
Apart from Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, the film stars Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari, and Anup Soni. Manu Anand serves as the director of photography and visual director.
For global audiences, the film will arrive in cinemas across India, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, and other international markets on September 25, 2026. After its theatrical run, the film will stream on Amazon Prime Video, though an official OTT date has not been announced yet.

The Story Behind The Film
The Vvaan draws from the real Van Devi Temple near Bihta in Bihar, a site with a 400-year-old legend. The temple has no idol and no priest, and entry is said to be forbidden after sunset. The film’s teaser introduced a world governed by one rule: “Suryast ke baad, Vvaan mein pravesh karna varjit hai.”
The story follows a city-bred man whose life turns upside down after he unknowingly wakes a divine goddess hidden deep within his ancestral village’s forbidden forest. The song Samjho Na, which showed the romantic side of Sidharth and Tamannaah, was released earlier. Chhathi Maiya is the second song from the film.
