The trailer was released on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The series will begin streaming on JioHotstar on September 25, 2026.

What the Hunkkaar Trailer Shows

The trailer opens inside a police station. Meenu Rawat, a student at the Mahasherni School inside Baapji’s Shaburi Fort, arrives with her mother to register a complaint. She tells the officer that Baapji violated and assaulted her. The officer, visibly caught off guard, tells her that the complaint will be registered after Baapji is questioned. Meenu refuses to leave. She locks eyes with the officer and says she will wait right there until it happens.

From there, the trailer widens into a story about power and how it shapes the truth. Meenu’s own father questions her motives because she does not behave like a victim is expected to. She is bold. She is complicated. She is not easy to categorise.

ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, takes charge of the investigation. She challenges Baapji directly. In return, she faces threats and intimidation from his clan. The case moves from the police station to the courtroom and into the media. Each space brings its own version of what happened.

The Cast and Characters

Raghubir Yadav plays Baapji, the powerful spiritual guru at the center of the accusations. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub appears as Bhalerao, described in the trailer as “the only lawyer who believes Meenu in this country.” Ram Kapoor plays Baapji’s lawyer, defending him in court. Arjun Mathur plays a television journalist following the case. The series also features Rajesh Sharma, Charu Shankar, and Zoya Hussain in supporting roles.

Talking about her character, Aneet Padda said:

“Meenu isn’t defined by what happened to her, but by what she chooses after. She’s young, complicated and not always easy to understand, that’s what makes her real. Her one constant? A refusal to be silenced. I hope audiences see her vulnerability and the defiance at the heart of her journey.”

Fatima Sana Shaikh spoke about what drew her to the role of ACP Jasleen Singh Soni:

“What drew me to her was her ability to remain focused on her responsibility even as the world around the investigation becomes increasingly complicated. She is dealing with power, influence, public opinion and the pressure that comes with a case of this magnitude, but she continues to search for what is true.”

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub shared his thoughts on his character:

“He enters a situation where the power dynamics are heavily stacked against him, but his belief in what the law should stand for keeps him going, he is the conscious of this story, the show. What I liked about it, is that it doesn’t present the truth as something simple or convenient.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas Backs the Series

Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures. Priyanka Chopra Jonas serves as an executive producer. She spoke about why she chose to back the project:
