Stories about unidentified flying objects have moved far beyond late-night radio shows and grainy footage. Over the years, some of the most recognizable names in entertainment and politics have come forward with personal accounts of strange lights, missing time, and encounters they cannot explain. Fran Drescher, Demi Lovato, Sammy Hagar, Shirley MacLaine, and former congressman Dennis Kucinich are among those who have publicly described experiences that left them convinced something extraordinary happened.
These accounts range from childhood sightings to vivid dreams and face-to-face encounters. Some have simple explanations, while others remain unresolved. What connects them is the certainty of the people involved that what they saw was real and meaningful.
Fran Drescher Says She and Her Ex-Husband Were Abducted as Teenagers
Fran Drescher, best known for her role as Fran Fine on The Nanny, told The Huffington Post in 2012 that she believed she and her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, were both abducted by aliens when they were in junior high school. The two were not yet together at the time and were each driving on the road with their fathers when the alleged encounters occurred.
“Peter and I both saw [aliens] before we knew each other, doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads. We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It’s the exact same scar on the exact same spot.”
Drescher said she believes a microchip was implanted in her hand during the encounter. Jacobson, however, offered a more ordinary explanation, suggesting the scar could be from a drill bit or a hot cup of water. Drescher rejected that idea, telling him, “That’s what the aliens programmed us to think. But really, that’s where the chip is.”
Demi Lovato Saw a Floating Blue Orb in Joshua Tree
Singer Demi Lovato described a close encounter in Joshua Tree National Park during an interview with E! News in 2021. Lovato, who uses they/them pronouns, recalled seeing a blue orb floating above the ground while stargazing in the desert.
“We went out into the desert in Joshua Tree and I basically saw this blue orb that was about 50 feet away, maybe less, and it was kind of like floating above the ground, just like 10 or 15 feet, and it was kind of keeping its distance from me. It was a beautiful and incredible experience.”
The experience happened around Lovato’s 28th birthday in 2020, when they said they attempted a contact protocol while stargazing. Lovato described seeing huge lights forming a question mark shape in the sky before the object backed out of view. They later explored the topic further in a Peacock docuseries titled Unidentified With Demi Lovato, which followed Lovato, their sister Dallas Lovato, and friend Matthew Scott Montgomery as they looked into UFO reports and eyewitness accounts.
Lovato also stated a firm belief that intelligent life is already present on Earth. “I think that they’re here. I think that they’re living among us and we don’t even realize it,” they said.
Sammy Hagar Described a Mental Connection With Two Beings
Rock singer Sammy Hagar, known for his time with Van Halen and Montrose, wrote about a strange nighttime experience in his 2011 memoir Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. Hagar recalled lying in bed at his home in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains when he felt something unusual happening.
“I saw a ship and two creatures inside of this ship. I couldn’t see their faces. I just knew that there were two intelligent creatures, sitting up in a craft in the Lytle Creek forest area about twelve miles away in the foothills above Fontana. And they were connected to me, tapped into my mind through some kind of mysterious wireless connection.”
Hagar insisted the event was not just a dream. He described it as a two-way exchange of information, saying, “Aliens were plugged into me. Either a download or an upload.” He also shared a childhood memory from when he was four years old, when he saw what he thought was a car with no wheels floating across a field in broad daylight. Hagar threw rocks at the object before losing all memory of what happened next. The experience influenced his songwriting, including tracks like Crack in the World and Silver Lights, which dealt with space and contact themes.
Shirley MacLaine Claimed She Saw UFOs Above the White House
Actress Shirley MacLaine has spoken about UFOs for decades. She told Variety in 2007 that her interest began when she was 18 years old, living in Arlington, Virginia, when she witnessed a squadron of unidentified objects flying above the White House and the U.S. Capitol.
“It had a tremendous effect on me. I have talked to a lot of astronauts and a lot of presidents, and these people are saying they are real.”
MacLaine later said she observed many strange objects from her property in New Mexico and believed the area attracted extraterrestrial visitors due to its natural crystal deposits. She also wrote about UFOs in her book Sage-ing While Age-ing, published in 2007, in which she described her own sightings and those of people close to her.

Dennis Kucinich Confirmed He Saw a Triangular Craft at MacLaine’s Home
Former Ohio congressman and presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich became part of the UFO conversation when MacLaine wrote in her book that he had seen a large triangular craft near her home in Washington state in the 1980s. During a Democratic presidential debate in October 2007, moderator Tim Russert asked Kucinich directly whether he had seen a UFO.
“It was an unidentified flying object, OK? It’s, like, it’s unidentified. I saw something.”
MacLaine wrote that Kucinich stood on the balcony of her home when he saw the craft hovering silently. She described it as a gigantic triangular craft that stayed for around ten minutes before speeding away. According to MacLaine, Kucinich felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind during the sighting. Kucinich later joked that he planned to move his campaign office to Roswell, New Mexico, and pointed out that more Americans have reported seeing UFOs than approved of then-President George W. Bush at the time.
MacLaine said she was pleased that her friend publicly acknowledged the experience. “I think that is terrific that a presidential candidate admitted it,” she told Variety.
These celebrity accounts continue to be discussed among UFO researchers and fans alike. From a blue orb in the California desert to a silent triangle over a Washington state home, the stories show that questions about what exists beyond Earth are not limited to any single profession or political party.
